Security.

Much harder to rob I would imagine. Lots of cash on premises at any given time plus a number of shops have atm's also.
Also easier to keep out trouble makers and harder for people to do a runner.

If we all made payments electronically at these places they will start putting no cash kept on premise signs on sight and eliminate those reinforced doors. Probably get the sliding glass doors on entry.
