It might be a deal-breaker. I think the app keeps records for 2 months. That's a long time to keep Nosey Wifey away from my phone.

as well as the history delete option, I preferably only do the first step of the process, scan the code and show the girl. They see the shop name but don't notice that i dont hit confirm to actually check in.

Or:

"Sorry, my phone battery just died, but I'm happy to write down my details on a paper check-in"

Add your name to the rest of the Mickey Mouses that visited that day.

The overseas english student worked a Monday morning shift at Greenslopes, an afternoon shift in Western suburbs. The following day she had a shift at Toombul and later in the afternoon visited a korean bbq in the city before going to the casino. Her close contacts worked shifts on the gold coast, at eight mile plains and later attended all restaurants at Sunnybank market square before enjoying bubble tea at Southbank.

We are issuing an immediate lockdown for all men aged 40-60. We are also extending this lockdown to 20-40 years olds with wechat, tantan & line installed.

I think the Check In Qld app will be better than having the sign in sheets.
It becomes compulsory from 1am on Friday 9th July.
It's better than a shop having to provide and keep the sign on sheets.
Also more private. When you sign onto the sheets .. the previous sign ons are visible above yours.
No sheets ... and actually more private.
You can delete the entries stored in your phone ... but the records are kept elsewhere if needed.
Better to have effective contact tracing if ever that's needed to protect all of us.

"
In addition to the hospitality sector, from 1am Friday 9 July, the Check In Qld app will be mandatory for a number of new sectors, including:

venues that attract large crowds, such as stadiums, convention centres, theme parks, concert venues and cinemas
shopping centres and supermarkets
beauty and personal care service, such as hairdressing, beauty therapy and nail services

C19 app already been used by police in WA (?) to track down a wanted suspect.

That's OK. Police have always had the authority to request any (not sure what's excluded) data.
. Phone data.
. Public safety cameras.
. Financial transactions?
. Traffic cameras.
. Blue tooth data (there's more of that than you think and includes personal devices (smart phones) as well as vehicle Bluetooth)
. WiFi.
. Google?
. Sign in sheets at any shop

I have nothing to hide.

C19 app already been used by police in WA (?) to track down a wanted suspect.

According to further news, this:-

Premier Mark McGowan told parliament he had become aware of the breaches in April and requested that police no longer access the data.

He said Police Commissioner Chris Dawson had responded that his officers were simply doing their jobs by accessing information available to them under the law.

“Both of those investigations were very serious matters,” McGowan said.

“Our view is the SafeWA app should only be used for contact tracing purposes.”

This will last only as long as there isn't a severe security threat.

I personally do not like sign on sheets. I fill them correctly, but find that is more invasive of privacy each time the sheet is sighted ... by you or anyone else signing that day.
I also had an instance where a new girl bought in the shop girls sign on sheet. I did nothing with it although alone with it for a few minutes ... the sheet was changed when the mistake was realised. I'm just making the point that these sheets already represent a lack of privacy.

"
Information collected using the Check In Qld app may be disclosed to, and used:
by authorities with powers and responsibilities in relation to COVID-19 (and those helping them) such as the Chief Health Officer and Queensland Health (including the Hospital and Health Services) for compliance activities, and for the purposes of overseeing and managing the Queensland Government’s COVID-19 response;
where the use or disclosure is authorised or required by law
Hence can be accessed by police in the course of a criminal investigation.

Data collected is deleted after 56 days, a verified and irreversible process inbuilt into this secure storage system
"

The Police have always had the authority to access property or data with a warrant.
In the case of Check in Qld data ... they would request a few days in a date range to check if a person of interest was present. The warrant and request would be based on a criminal investigation.
They would not get the full 56 days of data.
It would cause an uproar and endanger their current authorised access right if they would trawl through the data and use information outside of their warrant to start a new enquiry.

I just think the Check In Qld app sign in will be easier for all to use (us and the shop), more private, and way more effective and quicker if contact tracing is required.

The lying piece of scum that is the Qld premier was on TV saying how the data from the covid app could / would only be used for covid tracing.
Guess what, in the privacy notice with the app it says something totally different.
Typical lying scumbag piece of trash politician. Quite frankly I feel the only appropriate penalty for any politician lying to the populace is execution.

Ha ha. Did anyone seriously believe what a politician said ? Of course they would use the information for other purposes if it was administratively convenient. The privacy statement says:
"Information collected using the Check In Qld app may be disclosed to, and used...where the use or disclosure is authorised or required by law." So if it is required (whatever that means) it may be disclosed.
"CHDE [Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy] manages the storage of your information in encrypted form using Microsoft Azure Cloud Services. Microsoft is subject to both Australian and overseas laws that may require the disclosure of your information (in limited circumstances) to government authorities here and overseas."
Of course no government department has ever been hacked nor has anything in the cloud. Right!
"CHDE requests all of its service providers (including Microsoft) to agree to use personal information only for the purpose of providing and maintaining their services." That's all right then.
"Whilst every effort has been taken to ensure your personal information remains in Australia, there remains a risk that your personal information collected by the app may be stored in another country through your phone’s cloud backup service. " Great.
I will never download this app.
