Hasn't this always been the case, that partners who do not live together can visit each other.

No, that rule was implemented during the Melbourne lockdowns, never for NSW. Now it is being considered for NSW to prevent "mental health issues" in isolated single people... yes, having blue balls is one of them!
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the announcement tomorrow. If they do implement this, it represents no less than a game changer for single punters.

Correct. They altered the PHO last year to include this as well.

That's a different thing. You can only use that excuse if the person you're visiting is sick or needs looking after, etc. This is straight-up "I'm going to visit my GF", no further reasons needed.

April 2020 Police commissioner Mick Fuller confirmed visiting a partner would be allowed under "care".

No it's not read the website nothing about being sick and this was on nsw government site updated on 23 July but has been the rule for a while

It was always allowed, check the rules.

I can also go across Sydney to get my kids when it's my turn for custody.

Also going to see my doctor in the North West.74446

If they copy the Melbourne bubble then you can only nominate one person and you can't change it. So the girl you tee it up with can't see anyone else either. Sorry Riff this isn't in response to your post, I replied by mistake

If it is the same thing, then why is this "singles bubble" being called a new thing and hitting the headlines in all news outlets? It's being mentioned everywhere. Here's an example:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-27/nsw-premier-to-announce-greater-sydney-lockdown-extension/100328276

And another:
https://www.timeout.com/sydney/news/covid-safe-social-bubbles-for-single-people-will-finally-be-introduced-in-nsw-072721

It says that you can nominate another person to be essentially considered living with you, presumably on the NSW service app.

Like my colleagues are two single females living alone. They will nominate each other so they can go to each other's home and hang out.

I have a friend who's a guy with bipolar and he lives alone, not sure if he can nominate me but I'm cool to visit him and have a beer or two.

Bad luck, guys. Looks like they didn't go ahead with this. Not in the announcement. 4 more weeks lockdown, no singles bubble.

Perhaps not rely upon a media moment and instead go to the actual website for detail.

Not mentioning something in itself does not mean its omitted.

They did mention a singles bubble. It is the same that Melbourne had. A single person can nominate one person to visit them. However it must be the same person and that person can only visit you, no one else. Plus you can't change the person once you nominate them.

From SMH:

Singles bubble

From Saturday, a singles bubble will be introduced allowing people who live alone to nominate one designated family member or friend who is allowed to visit their household.

Singles in the eight hotspot local government areas can only nominate someone who lives within a 10-kilometre radius.

People who do not live with their partner are still allowed to leave home to visit them.

And only one, always the same one, can’t have a different girl every day. ;) ;) ;)

You were always allowed to visit your partner before. That is how escorts got around the laws.

The new singles bubble allows 1 person that doesn't need to be their partner to meet up just to hang out if both live by themselves and are single.

I wonder if both parties would have to register on the app? I would not want my "friend" to know my details.

Yeah, I don't see how you nominate someone. What would stop people from changing it and how would it be enforced? It is very confusing if you ask me.

Do you nominate them on the App though? How does one nominate exactly? Otherwise you are just using it as an excuse to any police officer etc, in which people could change their story each day.

Nothing in the Service app, yet. I imagine it will be there by Friday. The fact that you have to nominate, and you can't change it, means it will have to be recorded somewhere.

From another source
aHere’s how the singles bubble in NSW works:

People living alone may nominate one person and one person only to form a social bubble with them.
If the single person is located in any of the eight hotspot LGAs – Canterbury-Bankstown; Fairfield; Blacktown; Cumberland; Parramatta; Georges River; or Liverpool – the person they nominate must also live within the same LGA.
The nominated individual (who can live with other people) can visit their single friend in their home, but their single friend may not visit them unless they also live alone, and can therefore form a mutual social bubble.
A single person cannot change the nominted person they form a social bubble with – so choose wisely. It’s recommended that they be a close friend or family member.

They have to nominate you back for it to be allowed

Yes partners could visit each other, but this for people who are not in a relationship. They can nominate one person to visit them.

So now, instead of saying to a girl "You will always be in my heart", you're gonna say to her "you will always be in my bubble"....
