Interested in how people use WeChat. I have Chinese friends and work colleagues that we use with, but it is primarily to chat contact with MLs and WLs. There is clearly the social media presence happening but perhaps I don't get full benefit because I don't speak or read much Chinese?

I first downloaded it for work few years ago, nowadays it's only to talk to the few friends I have in China and like you to see roster, contact with WL/ML. There is the moment function for "social media" and the location where apparently some people had luck booking up but around my area I never saw or had anyone.

All i know of WeChat is ML and WL, although I mainly see the roster... i have yet to upgrade my WeChat experience with talking to ML and WL personally... who knows, maybe soon.

WeChat is like WhatsApp or Facebook messenger for mainland China. Most western social media apps are blocked from inside china’s internet.

Most people that use wechat for social media (non ML/WL/Shop related posts) either lived in China at some stage or it to communicate with someone they know from China. It has pretty neat features like a QR code payment transfer system when linked to a bank account that can be used to pay for goods and services (like taxis). Think of it like “scan and go” instead of “tap and go”

My mobile number got out somewhere so I get WhatsApp, FB and WeChat all the time as well...not to mention 'stock analysts' 'gold analysts' etc etc.....

Haha had one like that I played with. Wanted me to invest in a secret platform created by Novavax (pharma company) that only could be accessed via secret invite codes... A website that had broken english. played it dumb, made her believe I was ready to invest 100k USD until she finally got the hint that I was playing with her. She tried so hard for a week, even to the point to video call me every day to prove that she was the girl in the picture (to my surprise she really was and pretty).

Yeah that is a pickle.
It might be time consuming but could you copy and paste the info you want to keep to a note on your phone, or again is there too much info for that to be viable?

I got weChat when I started visiting Bunny House; also got 2 other chinese ML on it and a few parlours - nothing else.

I'll keep it to advance a few more ML/WL contacts but I dont have many

Telegram is a gold mine of smut, bro. The trick is to use it on the PC. Then all the censorship on Android or iOS is lifted...
Not only porn, you get loads of service providers offering their services there. I have yet to explore it fully!

I set up a WeChat account just to keep in touch with MLs as some of them would warn me that they are having their peroids and shouldn't come and waste my money.

i use wechat for friends and punting, but not the same one - good split app phones :) - oh and the pc app makes 3 !! really good for booking girls andtalking to shop, saves a lot of wasted time, - and shops will send better updates to thw wechat punters

I am sure if you block someone you could go back and unblock them also at a later date. This should bring your chat history. I have not tried this but am assuming this is how it would work. Not delete the chat history. You could find the list of block numbers on your profile then settings click on privacy and the blocked list should be the last item.

I had the same issue in the past. Now I am using Notes and copy the information I want. I also found out I could copy the photo also. If you find info on web site and want to keep the details it also helps to keep the photo.

There is a PC app, but it sucks that it requires you to login each time, rather than keeping me logged in once I turn on the computer...

I am hoping brothers more conversant with WeChat can help me here as I am at my wits end. I want to migrate my WeChat history to my new device, but none of the options work for me.
1. I have downloaded and installed WeChat on my Laptop to try and backup messages to the computer and restore in the phone. But my phone chat history does not appear in the laptop WeChat. I can just see the names of the persons I have chatted with without the actual chat history. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but continue to have the same issue.
2. I am unable to use the Migrate Chats to Another Device option. I get to the stage on my old phone where it asks me to login to the same account on the new phone. But the moment I do that, WeChat automatically logs me out on the old phone.

I have trawled through online forums, but cant really see anyone having this issue, much less a solution to it.

Try this:
1. Close the apps on your PC and phone
2. Open the app on your PC
3. Open the app on your phone
4. At the top of phone home page the should be a message "Logged in to We Chat for Windows"
5 Click on this and you will get a screen with option to "Automatically synchronize on the device"
6.Select this option, it works for me.

You could use English with Wechat. It's very popular among the Chinese. I often get to ask whether I have a Wechat account.

Now my Wechat is full of parlour and ML contacts. Some MLs may hesitant in giving out their mobile numbers but would happily exchange Wechat accounts with you.

Funny thing was, if I opened up a chat on the phone, that chat would move up on the laptop, but I still couldn't see the contents of the chat.


I finally tried the migration one more time and this time the barcode on the old phone stayed on the screen until I was able to scan it on the new phone. So that finally worked. Maybe just a bug with WeChat earlier..

Happy to retain all the precious chat history [emoji16]

When I got a new phone I got stuck with migrating Wechat across too. Luckily there was an option of answering who were your friends on WeChat.
