I saw this pop up on a face travel page;

[QUOTE]Thailand will allow fully-vaccinated travellers into Bangkok and nine other key regions without undergoing any quarantine period from November in a dramatic move to help revive its tourism-dependent economy.

Unvaccinated visitors will face a ten-day quarantine, slightly reduced from the current 14-day arrangement.

In addition to Bangkok, other areas which will welcome double-jabbed jetstetters as of November 1 include popular tourist destinations Chiang Mai, Cha-am, Hua Hin, Krabi, Pattaya and Phangnga.

Thailand reopened resort islands Phuket and Samui to vaccinated travellers in pilot schemes from July, after a high number of vaccine doses were delivered and administered.

The country has previously delayed and adjusted its tourism-reopening program several times due to low vaccination rates and concerns that the easing of rules would enable infections and hospitalisations to surge again.

This latest decision by the virus panel, chaired by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha, are part of its "living with Covid" strategy to restart the economy, while maintaining infections at a level that doesn’t overwhelm Thailand’s health-care system.

The moves come after the pace of inoculations have been ramped up to major population and economic centres, with as many as 1 million doses administered daily in the past week.
/QUOTE]

Hopefully some good news for the Thai's and once our Govt allows us to travel good for us punters.

this would have to be excellent news. Put this along with a 7 day home quarantine period back in Australia and things almost become bearable.

Thailand has already started a Sandbox scheme where travellers who are fully vaccinated can fly into Phuket. Only catch is you have to spend 7 days in the hotel on their list. Then you are free to travel within Thailand depending on the local council regulations. You won’t have to quarantine. This has been in place for over a month. I only got this information from other forums and don’t know anyone on the ground to share their experience. But yes once Australia opens the border at some
stage they will allow people to go to Indonesia and Thailand.

Had a look on Flight Centre's website yesterday. Planning to fly to Thailand soon. Going over December and returning March via Thai Airways. Cost - $6,500 each way. Much cheaper if you go via multi stop flight eg Singapore. Aus Gov is saying Thailand is a no go destination at present.

Please do not use Flight Centre. you will remember they were the company charging covid cancellation fees.

I did a quick Skyscanner search and if you are flexible with travel days $1,600 economy return or $6,600 business return via Singapore. Book direct with Singapore airlines.

7 day home quarantine will be with us for a year, so please plan for it.

its what happens in AU that's gona be the issue, 7 days quarantine is still a long period

Sadly, IMHO...
Thailand will be fully open, with the landing points fully open, airports, hotels, and girl legs, long long before any Aussies manage to easily get there.

The other countries, US, Europe, Russia, even India will be there before Aussies can. And I’d expect even the UK will have Thailand off its RED list of mandatory quarantine on return before Aussies can get easily offshore...
Define what you mean by easily? On what basis are you making this assertion?

Just go online and book your ticket after 1 November.

BrisbanePunter
08-10-2021, 09:45 PM
Maybe you can correct me @brisbanepunter
But as I understand it, booking a ticket is the easy part, although it will be quite expensive for you.
And easily to me means that you can return with the 7 day home isolation option.

To travel...
Don’t you also have to be in a state that has achieved 80% vaccination rates, and has open borders to the rest of Australia?
Which Queensland and Western Australia are a long way away from achieving.
Then you also have to have Thailand assessed by the Australian government as an acceptable destination.
Which at this point it’s not showing signs of doing such, tho with the UK dropping Thailand from it’s RED list, maybe that’s imminent.

You ask a good series of questions.

ScoMo and Fan Tehan have said the borders will be opened without a traffic light system. Aussies will be able to travel to which ever country they can afford.

The 7 day quarantine process is gaining momentum.

Qld is approaching the targets albeit a month after the other states. Public pressure will drive some compromise on the strict borders.

From my observation of life in the UK once the numbers get up 90% things look good.

My ‘belief’ based on United Airlines, Qld Police mandatory immunization the achieved immunization rates are closer to 98%.

My personal plan is more likely to travel in Feb or March at the earliest.

Those tourists who are currently in Thailand might be lucky because the Thai government is worried about the new variant and increased numbers. It will be limiting numbers of tourists arriving.

Got a message from Thailand today and the Thai Government announced yesterday no incomming tourists until 2nd week of January. Thats for now. Fingers crossed that things do not escalate.

What's happening with Walking Street in Pattaya? Still dead despite reopening. Are the authorities planning to rezone this whole area for apartments and hotel/resorts?

cuteguy

Yes, they want to shed Pattaya of it's high profile of sleaze...

It appears to be the case. However Patong may have taken over Pattaya as the place to have fun. The latest YouTube clips show bars open and many girls in Bangla Road.

Yes, Phuket has been in the lead for fun for well over 6 months now.
And it will likely stay that way for a while yet.
But it is never likely to get as sleazy, cheap and dirty as Pattaya was...

Prices in Patong were always more expensive and you had more variety in Pattaya. At this stage, Pattaya is still dead in comparison to its famous days.

There has been a recent crackdown of some venues in Patong which appears to be the only place in Thailand that is reminiscent of the good old days. Pattaya and Bangkok are still dead with venues closing at 9pm.

He is not prone to lying although he may exaggerate a little…
He sent me pics of the lady and she was gorgeous indeed…
Hope to get back this year …I am not a Bangkok guy personally although I have had a couple of great nights with girls from Thermae ..

I’m in Bangkok at the moment. Soi Cowboy and Nana are only operating at the outside selling drinks and some food. Only a few ladies about. The massage shops are very enthusiastic. I have not looked for or solicited any street girls. Bangkok is only a shadow of its former self. As we know, Bangkok is great when there is lots of music, busy bars, ladies doing sexy dancing and people having lots of fun…… not at the moment.

The Thai entry scheme for visitors is also a big pain in the arse with significant risks.

It’s a buyers market at the moment (as it probably always is). Lots and lots of opportunities but in massage shops and bars posing as restaurants not in go go bars. I am with some of my regular contacts. Thailand is supposed to have less Covid than Australia. Today I’m in a day 5 test and quarantine (taking a break). Thailand has some strange entry procedures at the moment. Free again at 8pm.

The risk is sitting next to someone in a plane who subsequently tests positive. You can then also be quarantined for 7 to 10 days at your own expense. Not much fun.

I was in Bangkok last night.I didn’t see hundreds but there are plenty. Thermae Bar on Sukhumvit has lovely ladies who are not just looking for Japanese customers (444….555) but now talk nicely and smile to farang. There are places with dancing ladies but they are hidden. Good value to be had with ML.

Many Japanese customers around? If the girls at Thermae bar are now speaking to non Japanese guys then the Japanese guys must be few in numbers. The first red light area in Bangkok generally catered for the Japanese customers. The girls were only interested in Japanese guys and would greet them in Japanese. If you walked past the girls they wouldnt show interest unless you were Japanese.

Many young hotties waiting for the Japanese guys. Probably because the Japanese pay more or won't wear the girls out.

Oh yes, sex tourism in Thailand promises incredible experiences, it's hard to argue with that. I also liked Mexico when I was there, there are many beautiful prostitutes you can find through Pander (https://pander.info/en) in various cities, but I was specifically in Cancun. And the girls there are real goddesses of sex, I definitely recommend getting acquainted.

yes that's true, but to exit Australia is another story, you still need your medical proof of vaccination or exemption, but i think these regulations won't last too long,

Speaking to colleagues in Thailand , they mentioned issues with Russian having assets frozen, as paryt of teh Global financial sanctions on Russia.

The most unpleasant experiences I had in Thailand in the past was the flock of Russians in Phuket. etc.
Not just the tourists who were in mass. The underworld that seeped into Thailand with ruthlessness.

Was sad to see that happen.

OLD SNAKE
27-03-2022, 04:14 PM
back in 2005 there was already a lot of Russians in Pattaya, and they just started taking over some of the clubs on walking street, but i found out that they end up working with locals, instead of against them, to stop themselves getting exploited by the cops who are the largest crims in Thailand,

Finally Thailand is open for business! All restrictions have been removed including the Thailand pass requirement. No need to register online prior to arrival.

Thailand needs its international tourists. In 2019, 40 million tourists visited Thailand compared to 428,000 in 2021. This had a huge impact on Thai's economy especially when international tourists spent 1.9 trillion baht ($54 billion) in 2019.

The Chinese were previously the largest group of international tourists visiting Thailand. Now first place goes to Indians followed by Malaysians, then from the UK, Singapore and the US.

Bars and nightclubs appear to be getting back to normal in places like Pattaya and Patong. It will be desperately needed by the gogo and working girls due to lockdowns and few tourists arriving in Thailand. Let's hope there are no more disruptions or lockdowns in the future and international travel gets back to normal.

Cannabis now Legal in Thailand.

Thailand has just passed a law making Cannabis legal in Thailand.

You can grow Cannabis or be in possession and its now legal. You just cant go walking around the streets smoking the stuff.

Some people find Cannabis works as good as Viagra - medicinal purpose!

Will probably increase the tourists to Thailand.
