there are a lot of unvaccinated people who will wish to travel overseas outbound from Australia, i wonder what the restrictions will be, and will they be able to get coverage for travel insurance,
anyway time to dust off the old passport and check if its still valid. and make shore its still valid for more than 6 months

Scomo recently stated at a press conference that only double vaccinated tourists will be allowed into the country despite making it very clear that the Australian government had no mandatory vaccination policy. That's their choice if people want to get vaccinated or not is what Scomo mentioned. If the vaccines dont stop transmission and it is a fact then why is he still insisting on vaccinated tourists to only be allowed into the country? Didn't omicron arrive in Australia via vaccinated tourists because they were the only ones travelling at the time of the outbreak in Australia? We need tourism and the world is starting to accept that this smart virus will never be eliminated and we must live with it. Why is the government discriminating against unvaccinated tourists? They can let in a vaccinated positive case but not an unvaccinated negative case? It doesn't sit well.

Cause we need the 5G the vaccinations give to boost our internet speeds.

It's all a deep state conspiracy. Let's setup a Facebook event to storm parliament house.

It may not stop transmission and catching it, but it certainly reduces the likelihood of needing medical care. The statistics show this all over the world... unless you use the incorrect logic of ' but over half of ICU cases are vaccinated' (ignoring that over 95% of adults are vaccinated so of course there would be more of them)

I don't want tourists adding any extra burden to the medical resources here.

However, ultimately it should be a choice and in the example of Djokovic, he should have been allowed in unvaccinated IF he was willing to quarantine for 2 weeks (he wasn't)

There is still uncertainty and hesitancy so it will be a long time before we get the huge tourism numbers of pre-pandemic times. I think it was around 10 million tourists per year and around 1.5 million just from China.
But tourists will start to flow in from 21 Feb.
We are starting at close to zero so anything will be an improvement on that, and it should start to be noticeable in many sectors including of course the sex industry.

My partner has just gone off on a holiday to Singapore. All the paperwork, testing and general bs to get into one airport here and out the other there was almost enough to deter anyone from wanting to travel. And that's before trying to come back.

I wonder if things are better coming to Oz?

I just came back from Singapore for a holiday. It’s PCR on day one, then ART (they gave rapid test a more beautiful name than RAT) for the subsequent 6 days. Including 2 supervised ART to test if I can do it correctly and thus reporting reliable results.

Check in enforced by security guard at all shopping centre, food court, restaurant etc at entrance. 5 people at most per group, heavily enforced by police and civilians around you.

Wouldn’t go if it’s not for a family wedding. But luckily the wedding was in Singapore and not in Perth, otherwise it’s a definitely no go for me given the quarantine requirements.

Getting back to Australia was very easy though.

Geez dude. The unvaccinated tourists are kept out because we want to protect our health system. More unvaccinated tourists = greater proportion of unvaccinated population = greater chance of hospital beds being filled.
That’s all there is to it.

They like to work and travel. If you have a state like WA with a state premier who believes he can do whatever suits him and close off the entire state even when there is just one covid case then would you want to travel to Australia?

I think you are dreaming because it's more likely the girls that were indoors most times are starting to venture outside. These young beauties need to socialise and go out. They can't play with themselves at home.

In terms of tourists arriving in Australia between July 2018 and June 2019, the figures were:-

China 15.4% (over 1.3 million)
NZ 14.8% (1.27 million)
US 8.9% (over 763000)
UK 7.8% (over 673000)
Japan 5.2% (over 445000).

Over one third of our international tourists came from China and NZ.
At the moment, tourists from NZ, Singapore, South Korea and Japan are exempt from restrictions when arriving in Australia.

Over 50,000 students have arrived in Australia since December, so around half of those would land in Sydney and quite a few of those would be Chinese. So yeah, it might start to be noticeable

I think the reason for NZ and Japanese tourist is also they are close to Aus. I think people in Asia may want to come but for them Aus is a very expensive place. The exchange rate is a killer. The stare premiers behaving like kids will not give confidence to many tourist. If I was looking to holiday in Aus I would not come here all the way and only spend the holiday in NSW. Would you? We are waiting for Asia to open up so we can travel there. None of us is taking about going to WA.

There was a scene in the Ali G movie where he is the immigration minister and he is at the airport selecting who to let in, and he only lets the hot young chicks in.
That should be Australia's immigration policy.

IKEA always attracts a lot of Asians. More likely to be PRs, rather than recently arrived students.

It will take a few weeks before we see any real numbers of newbies here.

They need furniture for their stays here. Not every apartment has furniture included. What's worse with some of these international students is when it's time to leave their places they dump their furniture on the footpath or somewhere closeby without getting someone to remove and dump their furniture at the tip.

Considering there have been virtually no new Asian students coming in for the last couple of years, you'd have to assume most of those customers are locals. Agree about the dumping though. I've got a couple of Houso blocks in my street, they are worse.

By 3rd quarter of 2022 that will be the direction all countries will be moving, it's not sustainable all this testing pre and post flight, it impacts tourism and people won't be confident to travel until all this nonsense is removed....
