Being a cricket tragic I'm in shock about Shane Warne passing at 52, so young...Just after Rod Marsh, two greats gone....

Fuck. That is a shock!
I had to check several trusted news sources just to make sure it’s true.
Two Aussie legends gone in 24 hours.
Marsh going was sad, but Warney fuck that’s a real shock and a real tragedy.
As a cricketer absolutely no doubt about his status as one of the greatest of all time.
As a person he could be a bit of a tool and a yob, but there was something real and genuine about him which was so refreshing in this era of so much filtered and sanitised bullshit.
I remember he was commentating the cricket once and spent half his stint totally ignoring the game and going on about how much he loves meat pies, the right temperature they should be at, how to eat them, the texture etc. Only Warney could get away with that.
RIP Warney, you’re a legend mate.

Couldn’t believe it when I heard the news this morning. A great reminder to all of us to live like today could be our last day.

Warnie alienated some people but it was refreshing to have a guy like him in our cricket team. Loved a drink, smoke and a good time. Truly one of the boys. And a hell of of good cricketer.

Same with Marshie. He was my boyhood idol. His contribution both on and off the field was massive.

Two true blue Aussie legends who will be sadly missed but fondly remembered. RIP

He was in Samui, that is not a punting destination now at all, and it wasn't much so before covid.
Its always been a way more up market, family, and high end villa holiday destination.
So unless someone has seen details of what he was up to there, maybe it is best to not put out the view he fucked himself to death.

Saddest most pathetic thing in the world is when you see some old geezer on the news who just turned 100 and he's in a nursing home and can barely walk or talk and they ask him about his secret to long life and its some boring shit like not drinking, moderation, health food, married to the same old bag all his life etc . What a fucken waste of 100 years.
Good on ya Warney. He lived hard, played hard, drank, smoked, enjoyed his food and his women, and he got to fuck Liz Hurley. And he died quickly and while having fun in a luxury villa in Thailand.
A life well lived and a good death. Good on ya Warney!

You really do not like white guys do you? How do you know that he had drugs in his system, and all single men (black, white, green, purple, orange, red, brown, blue etc) go on holidays to get a fuck every now and then, and some do go to learn a little about where they go to. You badmouthed white guys in another thread but you are coming across as the real racist.

Fovourite Warney story, said to originate with Michael Bevan. The Oz team was on tour and as was usual there were a lot of nubile young female groupies. Warney complained that although he did all the talking his best mate, Mark Waugh always ended up with the best girl. Warne added that twice already on tour, Mark had turned up for breakfast with the best girl. Ever Mr cool, Mark said nothing. At breakfast the next morning Warney complained to his teammates that the girls they were chatting up the previous evening had shot through. Then Mark walked in: with both girls, one on each arm.

Michael Bevan claimed it was the only time known that Warney was completely lost for words.

I had the privilege of seeing him play live. 1999 World Cup and one of the Ashes. I tell you, he was the Aussie team's talisman. Whenever he came on, there was always a feeling something's going to happen, that the game was about to change because of him. The semifinal match against South Africa in 99 was incredible, I could rewatch that 100 times and still not be bored.

What is shocking is Fifty two and from official statements he died of a heart attack. For such a famous person with so much wealth I don't think he needs to go to Thailand to get laid per some suggested early in this threat. He lived a great life and his achievements is one many would dream of. Warnie would have known he had to change his lifestyle and diet because the signs of heart issues would have been detected years before. It is ashamed he had acknowledged the problem and began to do something about it but unfortunately came about too late. Perhaps it is work or life pressures, but the place he was staying at Samujana Villas, Thailand is luxurious. He would have been there to relax, chill, refresh, recharge and most importantly, stay low key to be himself and not get harass.

Going to miss his side-line commentary like bagging Mitchell Starc during the recent ashes. Proven wrong he turned it into a positive and said it made Starc play better. Legend and be forever remembered as Australia's finest cricketer.

He may have been badly affected by Rod Marsh's passing the day before. A broken heart may be an emotional thing, but emotions can affect a person's physical health if those emotions are strong enough.

More details r coming out this morning suggest he had only arrived in Thailand 24hrs before but was on a 14 day fluid only diet prior. Was trying to lose weight... Was very much a yo yo extreme dieter..

This could have added to the heart attack.

That was Warnie... Extreme, played hard, party harder!!

Did watch him bowl in person a couple of times. Was a magician with the ball for those who know a bit about cricket..

When we go to our GP we are in a vulnerable position because we are inclined to want to be reassured and to put ourselves in their hands and to not be pro-active in advocating for ourselves. You have to be aware of that. Because of this delicate psychological balance the doctors' have even more responsiblity than perhaps even they realise. I am sick of GP's burying their mistakes. It only takes one time for you to get really really sick of it.

So Shane Warne goes to his GP complaining of chest pain. He asks him a few questions and listens wiith his stethoscope, maybe he said it sounds fine and come back if it happens again. In fact Warne should have been referred straight to a specialist for a blood dye test to look for narrowing of the heart arteries. As there obviously was narrowing, then emergency stent work done.

But no, the doctor says just go on a boozy holiday to Thailand instead, that'll fix you. Or at least he doesn't object to it. It is a combination of Shane Warne wanting reassurance he's ok and not being pro-active in advocating for himself. But it is his body, his life, not the doctor's. Mainly it is a doctor yet again burying his mistakes.

The lesson? Listen to the doctor but listen to yourself too.

Not sure if you're being deadpan, but I think there may be some truth in that. The human body is not designed to be "driven" with sudden changes in direction. Maybe his sudden change in lifestyle caused a big change in something in his body that the other parts of his body was not ready to cope with. Even if that change was good it could turn out to be bad.

No idea if he had fun with the masseuse before he went, but I sure hope he did!

You guys were sensible and science based in the coronovirus threads and although rooter is being jocular this is more serious for we men than covid is. Did you forget what actually killed him? HE WENT TO THE DOCTOR COMPLAINING OF CHEST PAIN! He did the right thing, that is the tragedy of it. BUT THE DOCTOR SENT HIM ON A BOOZY HOLIDAY!

Warne could have had another 25 years of meat pies and booze if he'd had essential, simple, non-surgical treatment. If any good is to come of this you blokes reading this, when it comes to chest pain, must take charge of your own health. Insist.

Hey nobody is saying you’re wrong. Maybe he did need surgery to avert the worst.
I think there may be something a bit off about it though. Based on the latest news, they’re saying that he was coughing up blood and that there was blood all over the place. I’m no doctor but since when does a person having a heart attack cough up blood?
I think even the Thai authorities are treating this with a level of suspicion because they’re insisting on doing an autopsy.

Yes, he was one of us. Ironic that in death his esteem in my eyes is elevated even further. He died on the job.

So many news or fake news floating around, juicy news always sell more paper.

If Warne would have died in the villa with friends (male) and doctor around him. No one would be interested to read on , right ?

This reminded me when Bruce Lee died, he was in the bedroom room at the apartment of an actress who was not involved in any of his film. So of course everyone’s imagination was running wild. According to the report at the time, Bruce was sick and became unconscious, but rather than calling the ambulance right away, the actress 丁珮 Betty Ting called Bruce’s manager/movie producer Raymond Chow instead, so not sure if he’s dead already or they had missed the opportunity to save his life, he was only 32! And the biggest Star in Asia at the time.

Sydney Asian Guy is still right, he just didn't finish the sentence.

Warne had just checked in and his very first act was to get on the blower to get two or three massuses in - sorry, four.

I do feel sorry for him drawing such a dud doctor for advice. He paid the ultimate price.

Ironically, Bruce Lee has become a bigger star worldwide after his death , nowadays, even the UFC champions declared that Bruce Lee is the father of MMA mixed martial art.

At least he got to drain his balls before carking it. There was a fifth masseuse, only she couldn’t do his foot massage because she couldn’t wake him

His doc might have suggested an angiogram. But unfortunately, many superstars don’t take advice very seriously and feel invincible

I heard an interesting tale about Shane Warne in a podcast last night. Apparently he was a very good golfer as well, and on one occasion he parred the course at St Andrews in Scotland. According to Sam Newman (a close friend of Warnies and former AFL footballer)...Warnie is the "first individual...man, woman or beast" who has had a hole in one at the 16th hole at Augusta Georgia. Apparently that hole is called "Amen corner" or something similar because it is so difficult. Golf fans or Americans may have more knowledge of the facts about this, as I stand to be corrected.

He was a public figure, which made him incredibly wealthy hence open to public scrutiny mate.
I saw an interview the other day where Warne admitted that he put cricket first and not his kids. He cheated on his wife and family. He was involved in match fixing. He was sat down for a year for taking banned masking agents that hide steroids, which he blamed on his mum!
Warne started a charity foundation that spent 281k in fund raising but managed to raised 279k! They burnt through the money enjoying themselves. He made his brother CEO of the foundation paid him 80k. They were passing on only 12 cents in the dollar to charity. Thus investigated and shut down.
I enjoyed his career did not like his cometary.
Great player poor human, let’s be honest about who he was on and off the field.

Shane Warne was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2013, and was named one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Century, alongside Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Jack Hobbs and Sir Vivian Richards. Shane Warne was never recognised under the Order of Australia honours system Cricketers Allan Border, Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting are all AOs. Warne teammates Glenn McGrath, Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer are AMs. Awards under the Order of Australia honours system cannot be made after death. It would not have bothered him. At least he’s got a grandstand. Played well, on and off the field.

He caught Covid last September and was put into a coma on life support! I can't bother scrolling to find who said here that some sportmen think they are bullet proof which is why he didn't insist on investigation of his chest pain, but only a few months ago he'd had a big wake up call as to the fragility of his hold on life. He could easily with his heart conditioin been carriwd off by covid last September.

Edit: I read one report about a ventilator which is a tube down your throat which means you have to be made comatose, then I read here that it was another type of ventilator. I only raise this so that Warne's death can be a valuable lesson to his male fans. He dies so that they may live..

I’d respectfully disagree. men’s health lack of awareness , lack of care, lack of preparedness to deal with issues generally . Is a big concern.

Personally remain ambivalent to any on or off field Warne prowess, however if any get a jolt, a belated giddee up the result of his death . Great . Then id suggest some good of his record. Sure he was a ‘larrikin’ and ‘owned his shit’ . Allegedly.

But if men’s health gets a bit of mileage , beaut.

That's why in live enjoy if you can. Don't work to hard, punting around sometime if you can, enjoy some good food, visit countries, have medical checkup every year minimum if you are young, of over 45s every 6 month or doctor advice, but must know how to control the enjoyment not too excessive and not less.

I see nowhere in this article that says he was on life support. He said himself he was never in any danger. There’s a conspiracy going around that people are dying from heart attacks months after getting the Covid vaccine. These people have been spreading that theory about Shane Warne & Rod Marsh for the past few weeks & now Essendon footballer Dean Wallis near fatal heart attack.

Ziggurat

Yeah, that was my error. I'd read a report that he was on a ventilator, which in covid times means a tube down your neck. So that logically is what I concluded. I loolked further into it and it was a different type of ventilator - it might only have been a Vick's fucken inhaler ha ha. Still, he really did need a good doctor's advice..
