View Full Version : General talk Small shops without web presence

I don't usually walk into a shop cold. I normally follow my regular ML around as she works in a few shops just like other girls. It's because she does the booking for me and has talked to the Mamasan about me, I'm always greeted with warm and smiles by the Mamasan.

I often spoke to the mamasans about having a web presence. They waved such a promotion away as if it was a nuisance. They didn't even have the girls' photos if you want to see one. The mamasans complained about people contacting them asking to see photos and asking lots of questions without eventually using them for the service and wasting their time.

These shops depend on location, parking facility, friendly and personal service and repeat clientele for their business. They even affectionately have nicknames for their regular clients. I could say they are busy with a continuous flow of customers every time I am there.

One shop in Burwood has ample parking space at the back and every time a car pulls in to park Mamasan's keen ears will pick up the sound and in no time out of the back door greeting the customer.

Another one in Chatswood has no sign at the front with only the shop numbers are displayed. I went to the nearby aquarium shop often without realizing it's a FS shop until aquarium shop owner alerted me to it.

Just a FYI the shop next to the aquarium is called club 350 and they do have a website.

Plenty shops who have minimal web or social media presence and rely on regulars and foot traffic.
As you mentioned some shop owner find it more of a hindrance, and they are content with the turnover they are getting.

The massage and brothel industry have existed long before any form of advertising were created, be it web or printed media.

It has worked well in decades by advertising in the adult sections of the newspaper like Telegraph or the local couriers and let’s not forget the big old Yellow pages. Then of course the World Wide Web was introduced and the smart phone and forums such as 99 popped up and the rest was history.

Forum advertising will definitely help the business starting up, especially if the shop location is not at a high traffic area. But it can only go so far, if a shop want to be successful and be popular and a profitable business in the long run, staff quality, high standards and consistency in services, pricing, value for money and overall management will all need to be good.

227 Broadway, Sydney Baby, Summerville’s are some of the good examples .

Then out in the suburbs you can find shops like 227 NSM or 200 Stanmore (the only known Asian RnT with the two holes massage tables !)

Not sure with forum advertising, would they still be this popular and profitable?

Just my two cents .

All the best to the forum and all the advertisers.

Cheers

Does DOS have a web presence?

https://dosmassage.com/ Although, they have pivoted away from massage now into the mid to higher end market.

A few years back, the Telegraph would have half a page of adverts from massage shops and adult services. Today there is just two ads, aimed at the M-M market. These classifieds were more expensive than many private ads, and were on minimum time arrangements. Many of the local free papers are no longer with us, so that avenue is gone too.

That’s a comprehensive list my legendary ALG.
Too bad DOS has now changed their business model.

Classified Ads were a river of gold for Sydney Morning Herald. There were Classified Ads for second-hand cars, real estate, employments etc.

For the small massage shops without a web presence they should realize that the younger generation of punters are internet savvy. They would want to see photos online and read ARs on forum before venturing out on a 30 minutes drive to a shop. It's to their advantage to have a web presence if they want to maintain and grow their business.

Portals such as sugar daddies if they catch on popularity they may cut into their territories. The MLs and WLs with the help of locanto or other escort sites could run their business from home.

The world changes and evolves so do many businesses.

A few shops in inner west have non-descript websites. Typically longer trading ones have pretty comprehensice sites, with girls on roster

I think advertising + posting in forums can really take some time. I see massage shop accounts spamming a lot of forums advertising their rosters for almost 10 times a day. That can be time consuming

Brothels/Massage shops operate as cash business and they don't want a digital foot print,
so they can avoid the detection of the ATO and taxes,
that's also why you also find some shops change location, ownership and have a high turn over of girls,

One classic moment with Emma up at DOS, I was going all the way that day but funny enough Emma hasn’t got any PPE! (More like ran out I would say…… lol) then she has to yell out to the receptionist, gave her some money, whispered real low to her to get some downstairs at the 7/11, the receptionist came back in 5 min, handed over the box with change and gave me a cheeky look, me totally naked sitting up on the edge of the table waiting for action !

Gold !

The only form of advertising a small shop needs is the “Open” flashing neon sign out the front.

Very true, but the shop front massage sign can only work on passing traffic and local punters. Which may not be sufficient to make the shop busy and profitable?

That is also true Mr AhLungor, however most hungry punters wanting a quick fix will only look for an “open’ or ‘massage’ signage out the front. A bit like looking for that doner kebab shop/van at 2 in the morning.
For the lads with distinguished palates and a more refined taste in fine cuisine they’ll be looking for online reviews, ratings, menu, price, location, parking, photos of dishes, reservation facilities, BYO etc…….Although sometimes that greasy doner kebab turns out to be that hidden gem in the rough akin to the chubby buns burgers setup out Lidcombe way.
