When I was touring Central Asia I was surprised at how the locals are Muslims and alcoholics at the same time. The fact that Russian beers came in 2L bottles created heaps of alcoholics in the region.

I was at a table filled with Uzbeks, Kazakhs and one Indian who lived and worked in Ukraine prior to the war. We drank from 9pm, I gave up at 5am but the rest kept on until 9am. I woke up at 12pm and the Uzbeks gave me a cup of sour milk kefir to beat the hangover. That was to celebrate New Year's. However, the group was already drinking like mad every night just days before New Year's Eve. Even the local Koreans (they're called "Kareyski" because they are USSR citizens instead of South Korean) don't drink as much as these Muslims lol
