Many shops in Surry Hills host short stay girls aka Kyoto+Sakura, Ginza+Empire. I doubt the short term stay Japanese will get targeted because they can easily get approved for WH whereas those from SEA countries can only get approval for 3-months tourist visa. Malaysians get filtered a lot in the airport because they are eligible for the 1-year ETA visa yet many of them use that visa to overstay.

They may also check those with student visas but working more than the hours allowed weekly. If they're on ABN they can only be rostered 40hrs max if I'm not mistaken.
