Depends where in Sydney you're coming from but it's only about 3.5 hours drive from Sydney to Canberra so not sure why you'd bother punting on the way.

Canberra scene is pretty crap now and I do most of my punting on my visits to Sydney but I'd much rather punt in Canberra than take my chances in Goulburn or Mittagong.
