Occasionally, I want to drive to the city (instead of taking public transport) on weekdays but the parking rates at carparks are ridiculous :surprise:

Does anyone know any places to park for cheap or free street parking? I don't mind walking haha...

$7 p/h during down Camp[bell street just before the starbucks before you go into George street. After 6pm some places become a fixed nighly rate.

Market City, I think is 2 hrs free.

It's managed by Wilson's, so standard rates apply.
Wilson and Secure seem to have a duopoly in regards to CBD parking.
I would just train it in, couldn't handle the weekday traffic and high cost of parking.

Off street meter parking could be a option.

Ps. weekends are usually cheaper ie flat rates $10 all day

Park at entertainment centre and you could purchase a day ticket at Chinatown book store for $17. I think you can't get any cheaper and yet close enough parking lot to Chinatown area :)

For free parking go into ultimo area park at the visitor parking under the apartments (the one without gates indeed) and you are just 5mins walk from market city
