How to expose fake photos - great tip!

Hi punters.
This is a trick most of you probably already know but its worth posting for those who don't.
There are often posts on the forum asking if certain photos are fake or real.
Here is how to check. I will use a real example from the forum to demonstrate ...
In the post headed "HOOTT busty Eurasian" MrSeven wants to know if the photo in Cracker is real or fake and gives us link to it:

Here is how to check:
1 Follow the link in MrSevens post and it will take you to the Cracker ad
2 Right click on the first image of the girl in black lingerie and Save As to your desktop and give it a name.
3 open up a new window and go to Google and click on the Images tag.
4 Click on the Camera icon in the search box, then click on "upload an image", then click on "browse", find your saved image on your desktop and open it.
5 Google will then search the net for other places this photo has appeared.
6 Success!! The photo is indeed a fake. It is actually a photo of a famous Thai model TV star called Poo Praiya and she has appeared in FHM Cosmopolitan etc.

You can apply this same technique to any pic you suspect is fake.

Google isnt as good as tineye.com

Tineye has been around 5 years longer than Google images and is 100% accurate whereas Google only 80%.

Thanks Commander. Yes tineye is great too. I think the google algorithm is more sophisticated in that it will also find the original photo even if the the pic you are seaching for has been photoshopped or pixilated, but I coud be wrong on this.
I guess if one search engine doesn't work you can try the other one too.

That's cool. Its great exposing the fakes.
Try both google and tineye. Sometimes tineye will match a pic that google doesn't and vice versa.
If neither of them match it then there is a good chance it is real, but it's still not a guarantee. It's possible they could both miss it.

To save time right click on the image you want to search
Select option to copy the url
Have another tab open in google image
clich on camera image to open pane
drop in the images URL
press enter and search

Extra tip - NEVER open image from google search page - open in other tab.

This keeps the google image url selector open - you can drop in image after image and search search search in a 10th of the time it takes to move images about.

In my experience tine eye has far fewer his than google.

Also - partial images - hit results.

It is easier to just get the Firefox add on "Whos stole my pictures" then you can right click and select google or tiny eye to ask about a pic, no need to save etc.

You could install Firefox on windows.
Did you know you can sync all your bookmarks and passwords etc to all your devices including your mobile when you use Firefox sync ?
