If the girl is from Singapore, English is her first language , she could not be a mid level English!!

Haha, what a detective, but it's true, it's the official language of Singapore, so the younger generation of Singapore girls should be good in English.

It could mean she finished middle of the road in English at school. If I could choose one thing that they claim about the girl to be correct it wouldn't be her English level

Maybe they also got her age mixed up and instead of 18 she is 81!

She may be "willing to learn " because at her advanced age she has forgotten everything she has ever known.

Yeah good point and forgetting how to speak English as well. Hopefully there will be an AR on her eventually yo clear it up for everyone.

How civilised is a culture to have a population that is naturally bi-lingual?

I know it is the British influence - what about Hong Kong, shouldn't they have the same or even more levels of true and fluent bi-lingual speakers? 90%+?

Of course, HongKong is Bi-lingual. In fact, most Chinese around the world are bi-lingual or even multi-lingual !
