We don't have Independence Day because we never had to fight for our freedom. England were happy for Australia to become an independent Federation in 1901
This is unlike the USA who had a war with England

Not exactly true. Australia is not an independent federation. Our monarch is Queen Elizabeth. Our prime minister is a British citizen. Australia Day marks the day the British Flag was raised in Circular Quay by the first British governor of the British colony of New South Wales.

Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip.

The final constitutional ties between Australia and the UK were severed with the passing of the Australia Act 1986, ending any British role in the government of the Australian States, and closing the option of judicial appeals to the Privy Council in London.

So as a nation Australia is still in it's infancy and cutting the umbilical cord with mother Britain has been a long process (still in progress while the monarch of the UK remains as the head of state after in the 1999 referendum a proposal to become a republic with a president was rejected).

FYI: Prior to 1788 the continent was know as the New Holland, due the Dutch actually being the first European to find the continent.

What do we do on Australia Day if we see our favorite WL?

We turn Barbie on and throw the prawn in. After 9 months our favourite WL gets citizenship as the mother of a newborn citizen.

Remember to wrap your tool!

Exactly. And a turd from England as our prime minister.

He might have been born in England, but his mother was an Aussie and he has lived here since he was 3 years old.

He is not a "seconded pommie" like many of a our previous Governor's and GGs have been.

Prior to 1901, there was no Australian Government, just separate states with their own jurisdictions. Which is one reason why the country is now stuffed up.

Before : very vigorous start
During : at any rate, weird...
After : very pious elaboration.

I don't mind before or after but not during please! :D:D

Think you'll find that Abbott was still a British citizen - and specifically not an Australian citizen - when he first sat in the Australian parliament. He was enrolled at Oxford as British, not Australian; and this is easy to verify. He refuses to release details on when he became an Australian citizen and whether he has renounced his British citizenship - both are requirements for sitting in the Australian parliament, and both are details that can only be obtained under FoI. Neither the PMO or the British government are prepared to grant FoI rights on this matter; citing national security considerations. So it is up to Abbott to either confirm or deny that he illegally sat in the Australian parliament. But he refuses. He has been asked numerous times.

Well if his track record on honesty is anything to go by I think we all know the answer ...

I thought about that, but all the other AD paraphernalia around this week seems to be based on the Oz flag.

But what ever your patriotic feelings about condoms, just wear one and go out and fuck a foreigner.

Fuck the queen. Most of the ongoing political problems and wars in the world can be traced back to the british empire.
Israel-Palestine...Syria/Iraq/Lebanon....India/Pakistan....most of Africa....all the shit of the world is the legacy of british rule. A regime responsible for the genocide of millions over centuries. Fuck the queen.
