Found that a lot of members here start to hunt or tries to get laid through Wechat.

Just wanted to warn you guys that there are a lot of fake or fraud account on wechat lately.

These fake accounts asking price as low as $200/Hr

When you ask for a photo, they'll usual send you super hot girls picture.

Then they'll ask you to buy alipay or iTunes cards as payment. And strictly no cash.

They'll also ask you to send them a picture of alipay or iTunes card you purchased before they give you any further details of where to meet.

After they got those serial numbers

You'll never see them again

Good luck guys

We keep reading on AUS99 about punters getting ripped off with WeChat private advertisements
Despite countless warnings of the danger
Despite common sense which suggests to be careful with anonymous vendors in any industry

Stay safe, and stick to AUS99 advertisers, if they represent value to you

If you fall for a scam like that, then you deserve to get ripped off. Sometimes, the only way people will learn is the hard way.

I don't know, I have seen some pressumably legit girls advertising online, that specify prepayment for expensive bookings like long session or overnighters. This made sense to me to avoid the "Allison" accusations with that indian guy a few months back. But no way I would be doing it for anyone I had not met before and had some faith in being legit. Similarly I wouldn't be using an untraceable method of payment such as itunes or alipay, at least with a CC you can contact your bank and make a fraud claim.

But as popeye says, you would have to be fairly stupid to get hooked by this sort of scam up here considering how much we already know the ads are fraudulent with regards to the service being advertised/supplied.

These WeChat escort scams are a lot like the dating scams. Why people continue to be scammed is beyond me
Its not like the pre internet age, where people had no information about the scams

These days its just a Google search away:
http://www.scamwatch.gov.au/content/index.phtml/tag/DatingRomanceScams/

What are dating and romance scams?

Dating and romance scams try to lower your defences by appealing to your romantic or compassionate side. They play on emotional triggers to get you to provide money, gifts or personal details.
Scammers target victims by creating fake profiles on legitimate internet dating services.
Scammers often claim to be from Australia, but travelling or working overseas.
Once they have gained your trust they will ask you (either subtly or directly) for money, gifts or your banking/credit card details.
They will pretend to need these for a variety of reasons.

Regardless of how you are scammed, you could end up losing a lot of money. Online dating and romance scams cheat Australians out of millions every year
The money you send to scammers is almost always impossible to recover

Warning signs

You meet someone on an internet dating website and their profile picture or photograph looks different to their description or like it’s from a magazine.
After gaining your trust, they tell you an elaborate story and ask for money, gifts or your bank account/credit card details.
If you don’t send money straightaway, their emails and calls will often become more desperate, persistent or direct.
The email is poorly written, vague or contains specific information taken directly from news articles, repeats itself, you are addressed by the wrong name, or the email
is not personally addressed at all.

Protect yourself from dating and romance scams
Where possible, avoid any arrangement with a stranger that asks for up-front payment via money order, wire transfer or international funds transfer. It is rare to recover money sent this way.

ALWAYS consider the possibility that the approach may be a scam, particularly if the warning signs listed above appear. Try to remove the emotion from your decision making no matter how caring or persistent they seem.
Talk to an independent friend, relative or fair trading agency before you send any money. THINK TWICE before sending money to someone you have only recently met online or haven't met in person.
NEVER give credit card or online account details to anyone by email.
Be very careful about how much personal information you share on social network sites. Scammers can use your information and pictures to create a fake identity or to target you with a scam.
If you think you have provided your account details to a scammer, contact your bank or financial institution immediately.
Money laundering is a criminal offence: do not agree to transfer money for someone else.

With all the information available regarding scams, I am continually surprised, how much lust gets in the way of logic

I just searched "WeChat""escort""scam".
Its all there
No need to experience the scam, these scams usually occur in Asia long before they come here

Singapore

By posting this thread, I hope to let all bros out there to beware of this scam. I apologise before hand as my english is not good.
I've been using skout app for quite some time. Lately, I came across quite a number of female profiles ( chinese gers ) with their wechat ID stated in their skout profile. I then sent them requests in my wechat and they accepted.
They will intro themselves as students, coming to singapore from Taiwan to study and they doing FL and will asked do you required their services ( if fact, all are from China ). Their rates are good. Some with syt photos can even offered SGD100.00 for a 2 hours session. Once agreed to engaged her service, she will let you know where to meet her. ( All thru Wechat )
Upon reaching destination, she'll inform you that her boss will call you with all details and shortly after, a private number or +000012345 will be calling you. A guy ( claims his name is Lim X X ) will tells you that since this is the 1st time his ML is dealing with you, there wont be cash payment involved for fear of you being anti-vice but instead, you are required to go to the nearest ATM / 7-11 to purhase some gift cards ( example : I-Tune Card, value equivelent to what the ML has quoted you ), scratch the portion which covers the password to expose it, snap-shot and send to the ML for "verification".
After waiting for some time for the ML to "verified, the boss will called back and this time round, he will inform you that his company rule is you have to a "refunable" deposit of between SGD500.00 to SGD1000.00 to the ML. Who on earth would pay deposits for engaging ML? This syndicate knows full well we will not pay deposits and so the deal will not go through and they gotten the "money" fromthose gift cards from you, which in fact they had oreadi redeemed the gift card.

China (2012)
https://thenanfang.com/incidents-in-dongguan-remind-us-to-be-careful-when-using-weixin/

Unable to support themselves, Lu and Jian set up a criminal gang. As part of the arrangement, Lu’s girlfriend and brother used WeChat (Weixin) to meet and then steal from strangers.
Police say there have been six similar cases in Dongguan this year involving rape, theft and blackmail.
Police explained that because Weixin is newer than rival services such as QQ, it is poorly policed. They warned residents to be vigilant when using the service, and not to meet strangers who refused to identify themselves or asked to borrow things.

China
http://www.echinacities.com/china-media/Dangerous-Liaisons-Young-Man-Drugged-Robbed-in-WeChat-Hookup-Scam

One young Nanjing man recently met just such a girl on the Chinese instant messaging app WeChat, and, after meeting up decided to check into a hotel room with her for the night. When he came to the next morning, apparently drugged, he was short 20,000 RMB in cash and a gold necklace…
Online scams and fraud are rampant in China and every year thousands of websites and individuals are busted for involvement in online criminal activity. The tragedy of the case above is the fact that such scams are likely to increase in the future as the tens of millions of Chinese bachelors grapple for means to find a partner; apps like WeChat make communication with strangers easier than ever before. While China's internet police do manage to catch a few big fish in the vast ocean of online scams and criminals, little fish like "Ziyan" are likely to flourish and even multiply in the bottomless sea of criminal opportunities. Extreme vigilance is the only reliable deterrent for not ending up like Xiao

Wish I read this sooner. Experienced this the other day. Wasn't stupid enough to give the numbers on the back. But couldn't refund the vouchers so now I'm stuck trying to sell it for a discount.

Are all wechat girls run by pimps?

Indeed. But have you given them a crack? As it were?

I think the point is that "deposit required" is an obvious scam.

Brother
Its a bit like when I get people from overseas, ringing the home phone, stating that my computer 'has a virus'
They try to get me to visit a website where I can download software to fix my computer
This software, obviously, is not designed to fix my computer
It is designed to access my computer remotely, and to compromise my security

I have been rung twice in the last two years
As soon as you realise people are trying to scam you, its fun

Just go into "Scam the scammer" mode

1. Pretend that they are your saviours, and repeat everything that they ask you
2. Thank them profusely that they are so wonderful and helpful
3. Say you are doing everything that they ask, but do nothing that they ask
4. Fuel their greed. Have them salivating
5. Waste their time

Them: "Turn on your computer"
You: "Yes, I am turning on my computer" (as you watch TV or read newspaper)

Them "Visit this website"
You: "Oh yes, I must visit this website. Thank you so much !!"
(2 minutes later). "Did you say type in 'Imadumbfuck.com' ? Oh sorry, I mistyped it. Give me a moment..."

Them: Do you see the red "download button" on the screen
You: "Let me see.... Thank you so much for this help"
(eating your dinner, or watching your TV)
(2 minutes later) "Hang on, I need to restart my computer"
(5 minutes later)
You "Oh yes, we are getting close, Im on the website now"
"Hang on just one minute, I have to get my glasses"

Then you leave your phone on, and keep them waiting indefinitely
Continue eating your dinner, reading newspaper etc

Then hang up after 10 minutes

Believe it or not, I have done this, and they ring back again, thinking that you are sincere.
All the while, you are going about your daily activity, and keeping them waiting.

Really waste their time

-o-o-o-o-o-o-

WeChat "Scam the Scammers" mode:

So here we go...

I have purchased $300 worth of iTunes cards as payment, as you requested

Yes, I have the serial numbers

Yes, there are 5 different serial numbers. I have them all for you as you asked

Thank you so much for this !

Im really excited to meet Sally, Dolly (whatever)

Yes, I have purchased five iTunes cards
Hang on. Actually, these ones were the $100 cards, they only had $100 ones at the shop.
Thats ok, I really want to see Sally, Dolly (whatever). I dont mind.
You can have all 5, since you are so helpful !

Is Sally, Dolly nice ? Does she have nice hair ?

Ok, sorry. The serial number for the first one is 049494939393

(Wait 15 minutes)

Sorry, the serial number is 049494939392. Let me look at the four other iTunes cards. They are so expensive !

(Wait 15 minutes)

I purchased one more iTunes card, just to be sure
I really need to see Sally, Dolly (whatever) today !

Oh, sorry !
I just realised, you want me to send a picture of the iTunes cards
Hang on, do you want me send them now through WeChat ?

(Wait 10 minutes)

Sure, I am sending them now

(Send a photo of something, including an old iTunes card, or just a blank photo)

(Wait 5 minutes)

Did you get that ?
Oh, sorry, let me send it again now

Oh, you want me to send the photo of the serial numbers. But I have five new cards !
You want them all ?

(Wait 20 minutes)

You: Wait, I have a better idea, let me give you my credit card numbers, I have two credit cards..
Let me get them, they are in the other room ! You are so helpful !

(Wait 20 minutes)

You: My first credit card number is 123456789. Oh, hang on, let me get my glasses

etc etc

All the while, you are going about your daily activities
Obviously you can do abbreviated versions of "Scam the Scammer"
But waste their time, really magnify their greed, let them anticipate a big big payday today, keep them waiting, and let them drown in their greed.

I used to get the Microsoft IT team calling me constantly a few years ago. Eventually I started swearing at them when they would call and the last guy on the phone (trying to con access to my computer in order to steal from me) replied how bad a person I was!!

Really gave me a chuckle to hear that.

Further to Harmony's post. It is quite important to waste their time as much as possible. Every time you waste their time, you reduce the time they have to con some poor unfortunate shmuck who doesn't realise it's a scam. Personally I don't have much sympathy for most people who get conned, but there are some who don't deserve it.

Exactly RottenLittlePunt

The scammer 'computer' guys calling me did say they were from Microsoft. (Im not racist, but you can guess what country they are from)

And as you say, waste their time.
That way the scammer gets a little taste of their own medicine

Regarding the WeChat "Scam the Scammer" method:

They will forget the little guy with his one iTunes card purchase, and focus on you
You are the guy who 'bought 5 iTunes cards, because he really wants to meet Sally today'

I had a lovely girl on Wechat called Tan19960317 invite me to 130 William St for $300 for two hours.

130 William doesn't have an entrance, so I tried the William St entrance to the next building down. Kept getting the run around until I ended up at the George St entrance to Treasury.

Then came the kicker. Don't take cash or credit card, only iTunes cards. You can get them from the 7-11 across the road I'm told!

Gave up and left. Was tempted to Google Image an Itunes code to send them just to waste their time, but I'm sure they've got the time to waste
