This forum mentions a dating program, with a group holiday as the prize. On SBS apparently.

Nah. No good without live footage of what goes on with their holiday
In camera footage, ala Big Brother, otherwise whats the point.

Then a promo on TV tonight, reminded me of how far a reality program can go
This program goes to the other extreme
Channel 9 is going to have "Married at First Sight", in 2015

I give this concept credit, it doesnt fear to go in hard.

Married at First Sight has to be the most extreme Australian dating show

Can you imagine meeting your future husband for the very first time at the altar?

Well it seems Channel Nine can

In Married at First Sight, four girls meet the man of their dreams ... at the altar.
The couples legitimately marry, honeymoon, meet the in-laws and set up home through the course of the series.
It is understood that they can have the marriage annulled afterwards.

"By making the ultimate commitment to one another, and living as a married couple for three months, will love bloom and triumph for our four couples?" asks the format's promotional material.

Married At First sight went into production in Sydney and Melbourne in 2014, and has just been announced that it will be shown this year, 2015

Nine’s head of programming Andrew Backwell, said,
“I’m hoping people will want to watch the reaction of each couple, as they see each other at the altar for the first time.
That moment is priceless.”

The new program on TV, "Married at First Sight", shows Aussies getting real.
Meeting for the first time at the Wedding Ceremony, in front of all family and friends.
Honeymooning the same evening after meeting for the first time.
Hotel room with one bed. Televised.

Premiered last night on free to air TV.
And it rated big time.
This program will make you cry. Watch it and see.

The series involves eight singles taking a leap of faith, putting their fate in the hands of three relationship experts to begin a life of happily ever after with their perfect partner.

Each participant embarked on a commitment ceremony with a wedding celebrant with all due intention to commit fully to this union for the duration of the experiment.

Nine's director of programming and production Andrew Backwell said while it is a "noisy show", the Australian public should view it as a documentary rather than a regular reality TV program.

"This is an observational documentary and it's 100 per cent real. There is no manipulation from production and I think that sets it apart."

Meeting Michael at the alter, Roni’s just happy to be there.

“Yeah, Michael’s a little bit cute, I’ll say that,” she says.

“Michael grabbed my hand and held onto it and I felt a sense of calm.”

Monday night’s premiere episode trumped Ten’s MasterChef in the ratings with 1.13 million viewers tuning in, making it the 5th highest-rating program of the evening.

MasterChef did 1.12m, while Australian Story: The Irwin Encounters on ABC drew 903,000 viewers.

Next week, we’ll find out what went down on the wedding night.

To be honest, I detest this program. How can one enter into a marriage without knowing the character traits of the other? It takes time to get to know a person before going into a committal relationship. You cant just matchmake 2 strangers based on some data and try to make a marriage work. Human chemistry is much more complicated than that. This kind of marriage just sets yourself up for failure. It is clearly stated in the bible that the lord detests divorce and a divorced woman caused her to be an adulteress.

Bro RF
I said the same thing, that I wouldnt watch it, it was an insult to marriage etc
I wasnt going to watch it either
It was just a fluke that it was on when I turned on the TV

Seriously, dont knock it until you have seen it. Even just watch the promos (link above)

Its not for everyone. Fair enough.
But it was a lot better than I expected.

I don't know what the big deal about two people meeting for the first time on their wedding date !!

Had been happening for thousands of years in ancient history in China - I am sure similar cases were flooded in Japanese and Korean history - especially those politically arranged marriage !!

The war lords in Japan (before the Shogun age) used to send their sons and daughters to stronger oppositions to marry their respective sons and daughter as collateral for peace. And yes, the wedding day would be the first time ever these young couple ever see one another !!

Go and watch Shu Qi in Sex and Zens II, she plays a monster in the form of a hot babe and she was to marry this dummy boy who didn't know how to fuck so his horny father took over, and this was one of the scene when the man took charge...................lol
