Greetings gentlemen.. How is everyone? Hopefully you guys are doing great. I'm a bit surprised bro Ahlungor hasn't made this thread yet or he's probably too busy, but as most of us know, Australian Open started yesterday. Kyrgios, Federer, Djokovic won straight sets yesterday. Nadal (this just in) crashed out in the opening round on the hands of his compatriot, Fernando Verdasco, after more than 4.5 hours match.. Tomic is playing and he's looking good to go through. Hewitt will be playing tonight against another Oz, James Duckworth..

Anyone is following this tournament as much as I do? Lol..

From the women's singles, Serena n Sharapova won straight set yesterday. Sam Stosur lost straight sets yesterday, which is not surprising for me cos she's making too many unforced errors everytime she plays.. Azarenka and Halep are yet to play tonight. My sweet little Genie Bouchard won straight set yesterday.. Bro Ahlungor, if you're reading, some pictures will be nice.. 😃😃

Nadal is finished as a tennis player.
To keep up with the likes of Federer he had to push his body so hard it is now a train wreck.
Federer on the other had with his smooth action could easily play until he is 40yo.
Federer is past his peak but even so the only player who can beat him is Djokovic.
Djokovic is at the peak of his powers. He is a beast!
As for the women Serena is an absolute legend and even though getting old and her body damaged can still kick the arse of any glamour puss pretender to her throne.
If her body holds up she will destroy them all.
Serena is so far ahead of any other woman on the circuit
She is the greatest!

Good to know that you follow tennis as well bro.. Lol.. Agree with Nadal's case, but I think he just needs to improve his serves.. If he can serve like Kyrgios, he can still compete in the highest level.. Ah well, I'm never his fan anyway.. Federer is probably never gonna win a major anymore, especially if he's playing The Djoker in the final. I've seen those two play in the Grand Slam final a few times the last few years, and the pattern is similar : The match will be very tight the first two set.. Then the third set Federer losing hence the match.. I hate to say it but Djokovic is just at his best right now. The only one/two that can match him will be Stan the Man and/or Andy Murray.. Even that they have to play perfect tennis.. Nishikori, Cilic, Berdych are great players but they're a class below...

Totally agree with you about Federer bro.
He is past his peak but still good enough to beat almost any player on the circuit.
Djokovic will always beat him, and he probably won't win another major but he will consistently make semi finals and even finals.

Bouchard won her opening match in straight sets and will be meeting no. 4 seed Radwanska tonight, I think on her best form, Genie has a good chance of upsetting, just not sure how fit her condition is .

Quick updates on Day 3 :
Sharapova and Serena had no problem going through the next round by beating their opponents in straight sets. With Halep out and Kvitova is still fresh from injury, I don't see any major threat for them. Of course, in every major tournament, there's always surprises..
Federer is about to step to the field and play Dolgopolov.. Should be a good game, but FedEx will win in straight set

You bros must be getting really bored of me.. I keep talking about tennis and nothing about punting.. Lol.. Federer won straight sets, as predicted.. Djokovic did the same thing, but he had to go to tiebreak in the last set..
What I would like to talk about is bloody Nick Kyrgios and his bloody attitude.. I love the way this guy plays, but hid attitude is not gonna bring him far.. If he doesn't lose that arrogance in him, he won't even make it to the top 10.. For those who doesn't know what I'm talking about (probably 80% of you guys have no clue.. Lol..), he swapped his shorts in the middle of second set (from white to black).. He also criticized the linesman for not doing the job properly in the second game of the match.. Like seriously?? As I said he's a great player, full of energy and he has a bright future ahead of him.. But with that kind of attitude, I wish him nothing...

OK, I watched a little bit of Daria vs Petra last night, Daria is a pocket rocket if I ever see one, she is short for a tennis player and absolutely NO TITS !!

She is now ranked 36?, she should break into the top 20 if she can win a couple of matches in Melbourne. I'll be happy to see her replacing Stosur as our top rank player. She has already won the Hopman Cup with Nick, bright future !!

This has always been the case in the Professional Tennis World, ever since I watched my first tennis match on TV in Australia, which was back in the 80's, the top 2-3 leading players male or female have always been dominating in all the Grand Slams, barring some form slump or Injury or some one or two slams wonder players, the usual suspects have always been there at the end, most of the times !!

McEnroe, Becker, Edberg, Lendl, Sampres, Agassi, Federer, Nadal and now Djokovic

And on the women's side:

Chris Evert, Martina, Graf, Seles, Hingis, Venus then Serena and now it's still Serena and in between the Williams sisters, we have Maria and the two Belgium girls and that's about it !!

Sorry mate, when I started watching tennis, Borg had already retired, I think I saw McEnroe beat Jimmy Connors in a Wimbledon Final. Didn't really know who is who back then. But I have heard about Jimmy Connors, why ??

Because of her: Patti McGuire - Playboy Playmate of the Year in 1977 !! who married Jimmy in 1979 !!

I always enjoy watching the underdogs rise to the occasion.. I think it was 2 years ago, US Open Final, where Kei Nishikori playing Marin Cilic.. Cilic came out the winner that time, but no one would've ever guessed any of them made to the final, especially with Murray, Federer, and Djokovic were fit to play..
Last year's Rolland Garros is another good example.. Wawrinka played exceptionally well against Djokovic and grabbed the trophy in four sets.. His backhand were like bullets that time.. Lol..

Apart from that, like rooter n ahlungor mentioned, it's pretty much routine. Djokovic and Federer are most favourites, while Murray, Wawrinka are next in line..

Hewiit played his last Oz Open last night. He bowed out with straight sets, but he went out with a fight.. Ferrer was just too good for him..

Looking forward to watching the serve off between Big Bad John Isner and F-Lo today.

More so, I'm interested in seeing young Osaka take down Azarenka. Maybe Ahlungor has some nice pictures of her too..

Anyone been dominating that William hill offer 'Chase the Ace'. Don't have the statistics at hand, but if you had been playing the big servers in the first 5 days, you'd be very well ahead. Apparently before yesterday over $2 million had been paid out already from just aces (don't know whether to believe that number or not though)

I always support the Aussies whether they are seeded 1 or 101 but I just can't bring myself to support Nick Krygios.
He is such a dickhead.
Hewitt and Cash were brats, but I still supported them because they were Aussies; and they did deliver by winning a few Majors and Grand Slam tournaments and Davis Cups.
But Krygios takes being a dickhead to a whole new level and doesn't even have the game to back up his arrogance and attitude.
Glad he knocked out of the tournament.

Daria will meet Carla Suárez Navarro in the next round and guess what, Carla is only 5/4 and Daria is 5/5 ! now, even though Daria is only ranked 39 vs 11 from Carla, the way she played and now playing against a player shorter than herself, I think Daria can get this !! And next up most likely is Radwanska and she is certainly beatable !!

Thanks for bringing up Naomi Osaka, never heard of her before and didn't realise that she is half Japanese half Tahitian, with her black genes from her father's side, she is 5' 11" !! so definitely won't be disadvantaged with heights against Victoria and Naomi has beaten one Sam Stosur before too !!

News Flash :
No upset happening between Osaka n Azarenka boys.. Vika is too fucking good for the young Nipon.. Two straight sets in less than an hour.. I think Vika could make it all the way through to the final.. I don't follow the draws, but she's probably gonna meet either Sharapova or Serena in the semi...

F-Lo is up against John Isner as I'm typing.. One set apiece.. I prefer Lopez to win cos he offers more than just quick serves.. Granted, Isner is better at rallies now than 3 years ago, but he won't cause any troubles once you stop his aces..
Just my 2 cents..
Wawrinka is on the court as well... Not many big names today, just Tomic playing Millman for the highlight of the evening matches..

imaragingbull
23-01-2016, 07:04 PM
Big Isner with 44 aces today... William Hill will be wondering why on earth they signed up to that promotion... Is a drop in the ocean by them, but is just free money they've been giving away.

Can't be bothered to pull up the draws Khuntong, but she'd be up against those who are playing today. Given Halep (seed 2) was knocked out in the first round, by Zhang. Moral of that story is that she plays Strycova, then likely Kerber, then one of Ivanovic/Keys/Makarova/Konta/Zhang... Not many big names to knock her out before the final really.

Masha and big Serena to meet in the other semi.

I can't wait to watch that game.. I'm a Federer fan and I know realistically it's really hard for him to compete on the highest level playing world number 1 consistently.. But as a fan, you will always expect there will be one day he is gonna turn back the clocks and smash Djoker 3-0 or even 3-1 (He can never make it to the fifth set)....

Today it's Murray vs Ferrer and Monfils vs Raonic.. Murray is the clear favourite, and for a good reason.. The other game though, it could be an interesting one.. Raonic played really well dismantling Wawrinka and Monfils hasn't really been put on a test yet... But Monfils is Monfils, he can surprise anyone.. My money is with Raonic though, with his big serving and his net approach..

From women's tennis, if all is well, the final will see world number 1 vs former world number 1... Serena is gonna try defending her title against Vika, and as I told rooter the other day, Vika is gonna win after three very tight entertaining long sets... You heard it from me first.. Lol..

Mixed luck with the cricket but taken some wins with the tennis !

Zhang Shuai winning was a bit of luck! Made up for all the drop catches by the Aussie T20 team !

Then I had a 4 legs multi win:

Daria won the first set, Hingis/Mirza won the double 2-0 (not yesterday but the match before), then Hingis and Mirza winning their respective mixed double 2-0 !

A very Happy Australia Day for me !

I might have the answer to your question bro Ah : Victoria Azarenka... She is playing sensational and killing it so far.. It's gonna be a great match up...

Not a good start for Victoria this morning, down 3-0 early and Kerber is serving next !!

Azarenka finally holds serve and gets on the board, 1-4 !

Azarenka now up 4-2 in the second with a break, heading to the third now I think !

Waow... I'm wrong again.. Vika didn't even make it to the semifinal.. Playing Kerber, the same opponent she played just over 2 weeks ago in Brisbane where she won straight sets, she lost.. Lol... Shuai Zhang is finally knocked out by the British J Konta.. So it's Kerber playing Konta in the other semi then.. Very entertaining match up it will be. Both are aggressive and big hitting, but whoever goes to final will be crushed by Miss Serena Williams, who is probably relieved Vika didn't make it to the semi... Lol..

Australian Open is closing to the end, where the finalists of women's draw has been decided.. It's gonna be David vs Goliath.. Queen Serena is the clear favourite against the first-ever Grand Slam finalist Angelique Kerber who did just enough to knock Johanna Konta out of the semifinal.. I'm expecting an entertaining match but we all know it's very unlikely going to happen unless Kerber catches fire and play her very best tennis come Saturday. Even if she did, there's no guarantee she can take a set from Serena..

Tonight though, the match that is called the dream semifinal, will see Federer playing Djokovic.. Amazingly they have the same records playing each other, 22-22... After tonight that is going to change. Of course Djokovic is the clear favourite to win the match, but If Federer can win the first set, he has every chance to make it to the final n maybe have a shot of his 5th Australian Open...

It's all over for another year for the Aussuie Open ! The only grand slam we can watch in prime time !

Serena is human ! And Kerber, well, it's her night isn't it ?? It really could have gone either way, but it's great to see another player wins her first major !

Novak ! Wow , what can you say, he was simply too good! The way he played Roger and straight set win over Andy, the gap between his best and the rest of the pack is widening !!

Just an observation , if you look at both camps , and see who was sitting in the coaching box, was there any doubt in who's the winner ??

Boris Becker vs Amelie !! No disrespect to the French lady though !

Ps. It won't be an Ahlungor comment if I don't say something about the tits ! So glad to see Hingis and Mirza won their third straight slam double on live TV too ! And the big bouncy Indian tits again rules the court ! Sania's big boobs are bigger than the three other girls combined !! Go Santina !!

Nah ! A better coach does not or did not necessarily have to be a better player ! But he/she has to be smart and knows what the players can or can't do to make the most of it !

Like boxing, many great trainers were not famous boxers at all, like our Johnny Lewis who trained a few world champions along the way !

It probably made lesser of an impact on the Novak camp as he was already a grand slam winner before Boris came on board.

But for Andy Murray, back in 2012 when he first teamed up with Ivan Lendl, he won Gold in the London Olympics, won his first ever Grand Slam in the US Open, then finally, in 2013 won Wimbledon !!

After he parted with Lendl in 2014 and hooked up with Amelie Mauresmo ! he hadn't won nothing since !!

It also depends on the two people involved, teacher and student, whether they are in good harmony or perfect match, not Lendl and Maurismo ! At the end of the day, it depends more on the students natural ability and determination to succeed !

Have a look at Leyton Hewitt, he had many coaches : Darren Cahill, Jason Stoldenberg, Roger Radheed and Tony Roche. He had his best years with Roger Rasheed who is not even known as a good player ! He won Wimbledon and became world number one with Roger Rasheed ! After switching back to Tony Roche, the biggest name of the four coaches, nothing better came out of it. There you go ...
