I think the risk is a lot more on the girls side as far as meeting a stranger goes ! Remember you are going to her place, anything happens to you, you call the police and they know where to find her! More risk when she lets a stranger into her home or apartment though.

Yes, I think the thrills was what drives people the private places !

Whilst Ahlungor mentioned it was more dangerous for them i can't help but think a lot of these are out pf private apartments in which they give you the block number only and ask you call when you arrive to get unit number or they come down and get you. Whats to stop them from having you set up to be robbed?!? Some people might prefer to go to private premises because it is discreet and they won't be filmed unlike visiting a shop. However, many fail to realise that in many apartments, there are cameras at the front, on the floors and in the lifts. I guess big brother is everywhere now.

From a safety point of view, there is always a risk when going to the private premises of a stranger as you don't know who is really there. The girls working from these private premises are also at risk from strangers. I recall an incident that was mentioned in this forum about a working girl who was assaulted and robbed by two guys on student visas when she allowed one of them to enter her apartment.
