View Full Version : Is the gap for punting getting wider as times are getting tough?

We often hear people say if the gap of wealth is getting wider is not a good thing - meaning the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer!!

I am sensing a bit of that is happening here in the Sydney's punting scenes:

In the top end of the market, (I am just commenting from what I can see from this forum, we haven't seen much brother talking about those $2,000+/hr escort services, so I am leaving them out, they are the creme de la creme I guess) there are getting more and more outcall agencies with more young girls starting from China, ABC, Japan and all that and they are charging a premium like $350/hr, some are min 2 hr and some are even overnight booking only. And the prices for places such as Stiletto, Liaisons (FS) and At Michelles and Misty's (MS) has no sign of softening.

Then at the other end of the market, you have Asian FS shops charging very cheap prices such as $80-$90 for 30 min, there are massage shops charging $35-$40/30 min + $20 for HJ and people are complaining about the prices!! (no point comparing with 501 as no one can beat their prices and value anyway). So are there plenty of brothers who can afford those $350/hr punts all the times, and then there are us poor buggers who are struggling to pay for $55/30 min for a quickie jerk off?? And apparently a lot of cheap shops are doing it very tough at the moment (both FS and MS). What's happening to everyone else in the middle??

Anyone else care to comment.

Cheers.

I think 5 Star is still doing very well in that "middle market". They charge a little more but provide consistent service.

Shops are opening faster than the increased number of punters, that's why everyone's doing it tough although the total revenue from punting might have doubled. For those not doing it right, the only way is to drop prices to compete, so the others are forced to follow suit. But for the higher end, there's fewer competition, so they can hold their prices, they compete in product quality and services.

I agree 100%.
Plus there is only very minority of punters sharing their own experience in this forum.

The category which suffer the most is the low end Chinese massage shops.
They cannot reduce their overhead any further.
Owners, workers all get frustrated and worried about their business and income.
They do not have enough jobs.
People are unhappy and also not providing good service.
Their mindset becomes, since you pay so little, what do you expect attitude!?!?!?!
This is a bad vicious cycle.

This can only get worse.

Those which can survive and sustain long term business and actually make profit:
1. Consistent high quality "LOOK and FEEL" and service - No need to be cheapest in the market
2. Already have healthy customer database
3. New promotion and marketing campaign.

4. Or in another extreme, YOU CAN BE THE CHEAPEST, if your shop is super busy and everyone knows where to go!! In reality, there may be only 1 or maximum 2 can achieve that. Otherwise This cannot be sustainable business model

Only my 2 cents

I suspect that a big price difference derives from how the girls are engaged and employed and market forces driven especially by the internet.

At a lot of the lower price end F/S shops you seem to have girls here on a contract deal that sees them at both brothels in sydney and other cities. The girls themselves are often prettier and provide better service than more expensive places but they are recruited OS, have little or no days off and often their "Holiday back home" means they've been moved to another city. The ones I talk to assure me they aren't sex slaves and do it to get money back home but sometimes you wonder. With ten of them on the roster with one day off a week you have a money making machine at even $150 per hour especially if you have a lower suburban rent and they can do the towels and sheets as well as root the clientelle.

Stilettos always reeks of drug money whilst Liasions is near CBD Eastern suburbs money. Each shop has its niche. Most are easy to find, anonymous and anyone can find them. Indeed, overall I think the market is adapting to new players, internet and a drop off in the Cross.

Ten years ago you'd go to 4 or 5 well known brothels or walk down Darlinghurst Road. Now you can be on the web with a smorgasboard.

The web has opened the door for the high priced privates. They were once few and far between. Now all the silly rich bastards can find them.

As for MOC, Sweetgirl, SydColour, Pandora, SexSyd, Bluemoon, Japanese Model etc etc they have realised you get a premium out of a 20 - 26 year old fresh student type. The internet is their oyster. Guys see the picture - get horny and make a booking they may regret as the girls often do not stack up.

I'd bet most punters on this site are members of Hookerlooker, Myhookerlooker, Punter Planet, Ausreviews etc etc and are pretty savvy about price and what they want. That is all 100% internet.

End of ramble.

Brother 85

Many good points there!

Whats your view on all these new outcall agencies and the price they charge, where do they find all these punters who can afford them, and dont forget, many of them are Asians only too??

Historically the sex industry has always been recession proof, people will always find the money to gamble and fuck.

I do notice with these new outcall agencies they are almost exclusively Chinese owned and operated. Given most of these sites are written predominately in Mandarin they are targeting Chinese customers.

I think this reflects a demographic change in Australia with Australian Born Chinese. We have a generation of older Chinese who have built their lives and wealth in Australia and now they have children who have gone through Australian universities and now working in very profitable sectors, such as banking and law. They have serious money to spend. Just look at the amount of Mercedes and BMWs in Burwood, Strathfield and Eastwood. Thus there is demand from these two types of Chinese people for higher quality girls and possibly the increased discretion that goes with outcall services. There is not this obvious kind of wealth with any other demographic in Sydney.

i think most of the wealthy chinese are not ABC , older generation chinese or children of the older chinese that has gone to university and makes alot money no one get rich by just going university and get a job . most of the wealthy chinese are recent migrant who has bought alot money from china . Alot chineses are seriously rich specially the one who can migrate to australia recently becuase china is boom . i meant we talking about lots of money . for example i was talking a an oversea student about how our live was change if we won $50 Million on lotto.
Then he said 50 milions is not alot money. alot of chinese already have that and his parent got more than that by have a couple of the property in hong kong and are retire at 40 with lot of rental income. even just average commercial property would cost $A10 Million in hong kong..Now i understand how some people can afford to not just do overnight but even sponsor the girl for a month or two.

Gillard has aready done alot damage already . You forgot to mention high unemployment rate. Alot company would would try to reduce the cost by simply move their company business to india or china where there is no Carbon Tax .so maybe the condom price wil stilll be the same becuase it made oversea.

Bloody Labour government is going to drag the country down through the mud, the Carbon Tax is what Australia don't have to have!! Right now, without the CT, we already can't compete with most of our trading partners, WTF do you think will happen when EVERYTHING become more expensive from 1st July because of the CT!!!

We are already selling EVERYTHING we got in the ground to China and India, and they won't last forever!! what if there is a slow down up north??

The ALP already lost all the savings and surplus built up by the Liberals and by the time they deservedly lost government, the country will be in so much debt, the so called "Working Families" that Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard and company said they are standing for, will be so fucked up by the same people they have voted for, I'm sure cum the next Federal election, they will do a Queensland to the Gillard government if Julia is still there which is very doubtful.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers

What you describe there is known as ZMOT or 'Zero Moment of Truth'. This is Googles phenomenom that explains that people shop online and go directly to where they need to go. The decision is made before they leave their house. the first moment of truth used to be when your at a shopping centre, looking at a wall of tv's(or cereal or t shirts or whatever) and make your decision there on that spot. i cbf explaining the whole thing, but if you read the book (you can download it for free), it goes a long way to explaining how people make their decisions on their purchases before they leave their computers these days. It applies to groceries, tv's, phones, brothels, everything. I know before i go punting, I come here, go to the sites, compare pricing, locations, rosters, make a phone call based on my research then go. The buyer is now in complete control of all stages of the transaction. therefore, the best thing the brothels can do is go online, get involved with forums like this, have an up to date website and rosters and the punters will come once they are armed with the information they need. No one really wants to take a 'punt', we want to know what we are getting before we walk through the door. thats human nature these days.
