Have any of you had a vasectomy?

Does it lower your sex drive?

Just curious to see everyone else's point of view if you have or considered to desex yourself - and why?

Yes had a vasectomy.
Definitely does not effect sex drive. All good! Just means you can’t get someone pregnant!

Yes, I’ve had one too. No change to sex drive at all. The only difference I’ve noticed is that I don’t shoot as far as before, but that might be due to age as well, lol
Coincidentally, within 12 months of getting the vasectomy, my marriage was over. Didn’t worry me too much as I didn’t want anymore kids anyway, but most interested ML’s want nothing to do with me when they find out, lol.

That is funny?

Why tell them though, if there is no real difference

Yes I had it done by dr testa. No joke that was his name. Has it effected my sex drive? Hell yes. I’m as horny as a rabbit and as free as a bird. I’m sperm liberated. I am man hear me snore.

Very interesting. My cousin did it about a year ago but never really had the chance to ask. He says that he can't be stuffed to root his wife and that's when I thought it must've been the vasectomy.

And why would the ML have nothing to do with you after telling them you had one done @Soccerfan? Seems like they want your genes to have kids

I have a good job and single, I can only assume that they thought I would be someone decent to latch onto, in order to get PR.
Nothing says PR like a kid with an Aussie father.
Maybe I’m cynical. Also, it didn’t happen often, but it happened.
I dated a Thai ML who wanted to get married and all and wanted me to get a reversal.
This would mean that I would die working, lol. Never able to retire.
It was a NO from me.

Unfortunately that’s not true. I’m destined to be alone I think. Punting is just too easy, I’m probably lucky that I did have the vasectomy.

Its not too late. Yeah punting is great but i have seen and heard about plenty of these lonely older guys with a bit of cash behind them but an insatiable desire for punting...they are pretty sad human being considering what they otherwise have done with their lives.

Had one done a while ago, had a test for prostate cancer few years ago. Came back little higher than normal PSA, no family history of this. Had biopsy and got sepsis and almost knocked me off. Found nothing, few years later still a little high, another biopsy and another bout of sepsis, found nothing. While in hospital heart rate would not come down which led to two lots of open heart surgery. Hell few years let me tell ya I don't know but im sceptical and wish I had never got vasectomy.

I won't do it. Just put dom. Only if you want bareback what is the point.

Its not the mans choice Climax, its usually the partners who don't want children or don't want anymore that cajole their men into doing it as its a much safer and less painful option than them getting their tubes tide.

My ex tried for at least a year to get me to do it after the birth of our second child but I flatly refused (only cause I hate hospitals and avoid them at all cost, dirty places where you can pick up an infection very easily). After our third child she simply shut up shop when I still refused.

for those who have done it, did you need a referral from a GP?
any recommendations for clinic around North Sydney/city?

thanks!

I had one done many years ago at the family planning clinic at Ashfield. Not sure if it is still there or somewhere else. No referral was necessary but they will talk you in detail to make sure that you want one. But I must say I have no regrets and the girls love it as well.

Has anyone had one and then had it reversed at all? Just wondering what the experiences are with it

Dr Mark Elvy in Crows Nest - Might need a referral from a GP if you're super young.

Been considering it for a while. Any idea of costs? I'm assuming it's elective surgery and isn't covered by Medicare or private health insurance...

NSW family planning says covered by Medicare with $150 out of pocket:

guessing private health insurance will cover some more?

Mate of mine remarried and his wife wants kids - but he'd had a vasectomy.

Instead of a reversal, he just went for a one off extraction and they're sitting in the freezer waiting for them to pull the trigger, so he's still able to root around like a madman without worrying about kids - keeps his vasectomy and keeps his new wife happy too.
