While I am happy to score the free cash, just shows how stupid the HK government is. They should give it to people who lodge tax return last year, or give it out as voucher so people have to spend it to help economy.

Well, when you return to HK to pick up the cash, you probably will be spending more than the $10,000 in the local or Macau economy! It’s a win win and that’s exactly what the cash is for- multiplier effects for the GDP, mission accomplished, no ?

If it gets though then you dont need to be in HK to get it. Apply online and goes to your bank account.

I agree with the黃絲s though if they tide this to the police budget, I rather not have it. Dont want blood on my hands!!

Haha, you are not alone there, in fact lots of people in SM in Hong Kong are saying , if Carrie Lam will resign , they would donate $10K to the government instead !

not familiar with finances of hk gov, does it have a budget surplus that provides the extra cash to hand out?
otherwise it would have to issue bonds.

I doubt Australia will ever hand out 10K AUD to every citizen over 18yo, you guys from HK are truly spoiled.

Don't worry, the HK government has a lot of money in reserves (like trillions !!) But they did wasted BILLIONS in those massive white elephants infrastructure projects in recent years !

BTW, the Macau government has been handing out money to its people every year, mostly $9,000 - changed to $10,000 last year plus extra in superannuation and another $10,000 for this current crisis !! But then again, those were from the casino revenue/tax and they are billions too !

Lots of good punting places in HK. The Fuji building is another one. 18 floors of them.

The riots and demonstrations have gone quiet so far and I guess the virus epidemic has frightened many away in HK. The Communist authorities in China must be pleased that they don't have to consider this even though there is a lot of backlash from their own people about the way they have handled this serious epidemic within their country.

You have to admire their commitment to freedom. Tear gas, rubber bullets, real bullets, trunchions, boots - and now a virus pandemic. And still they hit the streets.

Sure, in the stress of life and death situations they may have been forced into over-reaction sometimes, but overall I think they are fucking heroes.

Before I was in HK in October, I ask my friends "Is it safe to come back?" All the reply is "As long as you don't see police you are safe."

My hotel was close to Nathan road and Waterloo Road crossing. One of the black spots. I feel absolute safe.... until Halloween when the dogs (police) came out. I do have to thank them though. Run into a street girl I fucked. She saw the dogs deployed and prepare to call it a night. We keep chatting and I though she was a good fuck so I suggest she stay at my place. She obviously not doing so well so she agrees. Its wasn't my best overnight but I only pay her under HK$1K for the night so can't complain.

I don’t think too many people will be punting mad with those hand out money!

Depending on the industry you are in, its been a tough tough 8 months since the protests had started . Retails , entertainment, bar and restaurants are most badly affected . Now with the virus , the entire tourism industry are at rock bottom both in and out of Hong Kong. And you can’t really fuck your way out of desperation can you ?

Not wat you Think so pls dun reply to me. All the violent rioting and US flag waving won't make a shit difference to HK but make it burn in hell. So feck them and Joshua Wong.

The High rank government officials lead by Carrie Lam are now donating one months salary to charity!

Big deal, so pathetic!
