I have never had a WeChat account till date. After joining this forum I have always wanted to have one so that it's easier to stay in touch with most of the places and also have a peek at their daily rosters. This morning I downloaded it and when I tried to register I got an error message stating that there has been unusual activity on the account. I've had this # for almost 4 years now and I know for a fact that I never installed WeChat!

Now, it says that I need another WeChat user to "Help Friend Log In" to verify my identity and unlock the account.

I would really appreciate if anyone out there can help me with this!

Most likely the mobile number was used before to register a wechat account. Did you get a new number specifically for wechat if so then chances are that number might of been used before.

Just ask one of Chinese WL to help you to unlock. That happened to me so ask WL .

I have a similar problem, used wechat years ago when travelling in asia then forgot about it. When I went to use it recently it said I needed another person's account to get it up and running.

Is it worth the trouble of setting up?

Heaps of places use it to show their rosters and answer questions or enquiries.

not all WLs want to expose their WeChat account to a customer she barely knows.

My experience is that those who have a second WeChat id dedicated to keeping in touch with customers will be more willing to help.

I agree that not all WL's will be willing to share their number which is associated with the wechat id. That's the reason I was searching for someone to help on the forum, would have helped checking out the rosters with pictures!
