Relaxing of NSW rules from 15th May 2020

Just so everyone is aware, the NSW rules have been updated as of the 15th of May 2020

"Personal services businesses
Massage parlours and tattoo parlours cannot provide services, however they can sell their products. This applies to any business premises, regardless of whether it operates in a retail outlet or in a private home.


Strip clubs and sex services premises are closed"

There are some eye watering fines for violating these rules.

So brothels may not yet reopen.

A bit of a bummer, but that is how it is.

bummer indeed, no mention in phase 3...

Doesn't bother me at all, as I'm stuck at home, not knowing when city office will reopen.

Not exactly anxious to start commuting to work again, feeling a lot safer & healthier at home.

I rarely punt in winter, so my hope is by late August things will gradually go back to normal: offices reopen, people go back to work, shops reopen.

only trouble is: fewer new girls coming to australia → stuck with regulars, who will also need to leave at some point.

Correction:
$55,000 for a business + $27,500 a day
plus $11,000 (+$5,500 per day) for an individual and up to 6 months in prison on top of the fines.

Plus lose your licence to operate and get deported I would expect.

If you had to pick a "high risk" business for spreading a pandemic that acts via touch and breath - and where the carrier often has no symptoms - brothels and outcalls would be it.
Given that puts all the efforts and billions of billions of dollars that have been spent to try and manage the impact of this disease in Australia I would think the Police would be taking a pretty good look who is operating sex services during the current emergency.
Even if the are not looking, it is an offence to fail to cooperate truthfully with contact tracers, so if anyone who has visited comes down with Covid-19 the business can expect to get identified and stomped.

If the powers-that-be were truly rational about all this they would be paying brothels not to open and sex workers not to work (including those from overseas).
