That was a good read and a very in depth interview.
Some similarities but bigger differences right? It's a lot more illegal and illicit in the USA. What did you think was the most similar?
The "middle aged woman with families still in China" is quite common here, esp once you get out into the suburbs. They are somehow working here legally, but are usually reluctant to divulge too many details.
The similarity is basically that R&T massage exists and their are Asian woman involved. That's about where any similarities end.
Prostitution is illegal in most of the US and everything these people engage in is illegal with both the women and punters liable for arrest in undercover stings (which happen a lot).
It's very different to somewhere like Sydney where in many (but obviously not all) the parlours operate legally with a licence.. The only illegal activity that's going on in many is travel visa and tax fraud..
I think it would be a lot easier for a chinese lady to arrive to Australia recently - not right now of course but say in the past 10-15 years, either as a tourist or student. Once she is in the country, the sky is the limit isn’t it ?
And also , student visa here actually allow the person to work legally up to 20 hr a week, unlimited during school holidays too which is a lot lenient than the US.
The other thing I found interesting is that the term massage parlour in the USA is basically meant FS brothels is it not ? Well at least the porn industry thought so and it’s a big genre too!
Those adult ads in Chinese were just gold if you can read them........ haha
