I feel a bit sorry for her, she is clearly out of her depth amongst the court procedures. Probably can't afford / doesn't want to spend money on lawyers.
Maybe because she lacks confidence in her own defence? I mean if she went full on with the lawyers she would end up having to pay for everything if she lost the case.
