I do not agree with you, and that was the reason why I was so harsh in my response - to which you did not answer.
Bro Ahlungor already added couple of other reasons for punting, and I will add another one from personal experience.
I came out from a long relationship and while I would have been able to get the girls, I was not really ready to start a new relationship or even be bothered with the chase. I still had sexual needs, so I fulfilled them by punting.
Three months ago (a year and a half after the breakup) I met a lovely girl, whom I've been seeing since, and I have not punted during that time.
The OP's (original poster) questions were quite limited as they probably were drawn from personal experience and he did not think there would be any other reasons, but this illustrates very well why I am often annoyed about polls.
The way you ask the question, get's you the kind of answers you want to get. This may not be true with the OP, but is certainly true with for example the polls they make about political preferences.
As an example of a leading question I'll give you the following, that I asked from another member here who was demanding a yes or no answer to a question.
