Sorry for the necro but this might be useful to people down the track.

I've been using Locanto on-and-off for about 8 years.
Locanto is bad but so is everywhere else, that's just the reality of it. Other sites (like redescorts, secrethostess) also trawl for, and repost, ads from Locanto, which means Locanto at least has original ads.
You've got to learn to spot the fakes.
I'd also recommend - if you're willing to fork over the cash - getting a premium account. This comes with 2 main benefits.
1) You can see when the poster was last online. If it was over a month ago then it's a dead ad. Forget it and move on.
2) The best feature - you can ignore posters. This acts as a filtering systems. You can just ignore all the fake ads and only see the genuine ones (I'd say it's a about 80% fake/misleading). It's too easy to get lost in all the shit and miss the real ones.
