    - Superannuation funds are dragged along for the ride.

The issue here is the system is built on all these bluechip investments that are supposedly super safe, but they are all exposed to the same risk of the residential property bubble.
All good points. The other major issue is soaring electricity prices as we try to appease the great Climate God. Switching off gas and coal to rely on Chinese made windmills and solar panels means our electricity costs will soar. Even more factories will close, not to mention the job losses in the gas and coal sectors

Isn't albo gonna place a cap on energy prices?

Also recessions are normal occurrences for an economy. If you look at GDP over a longer period of time you'll notice peaks and troughs.

This recession is a interesting one though. There's a lot more forces at play than consumer confidence. For example most times recessions directly correlate with higher unemployment rate which isn't the case at the moment.

Yes, decent behaviour, respect and etiquette are prerequisites. Perhaps some physical traits sometimes come into play....

Plus wage growth laging....its not wage push inflation meaning the RBA interest rate strategy hits and hurts average people whose wages are stagnant, particularly the over geared. The real culprits are global players and a mismanaged local energy transition.

Well, regardless of who the real culprit may be and whichever way inflation is hitting us (non-wage spiral, etc), you have to admit the cash rate is having the intended effect. Even in our little niche of the economy. MLs in RNTs running on empty, reduced rates. It is reducing inflation.

Now if you want to look at the rearview mirror and blame somebody for our predicament, look no further than APRA. This article sums it up very well:
    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-12-...loor/101745144

Energy prices may have an impact, but the biggest elephant in the room is residential property prices, huge mortgages, and high rents as a result of that.

The RBA has a mandate to drive up inflation when it is too low (economy is slow), or to fight inflation when it is too high. Did APRA have a mandate to increase the size of mortgages people can take out to buy a home?

    Ow my head hurts....
Don't really want to get into an economics debate but I will just make a couple of points
The original catalyst for the inflation was not the usual supply/demand issue and the RBA should have picked that up and made a slight tweak much earlier.
Secondly the abnormal and false high employment levels and the cash handouts well above and beyond what people would have normally earnt coupled with major restraint of trade in many sectors left a large amount of disposable income in the system.
Thirdly investors/property owners and many particular industries increased their wealth by having their day to day costs reduced drastically and often subsidised which in turn falsely pushed up property values. Do not forget for all the bleating of Governments both State and Federally about providing affordable housing it is very disingenuous. They structure their economic outlook on an ever increasing property market. If you paid attention in one breath ScoMo rabbitted on about the unaffordable of housing for the young then released a budget designed to drive up prices.
Fourth and final because I meant it when I said I do not want to get into it......
Energy policy that subsidises everyone and everything while restricting supply....the old supply and demand driving up prices and tax payers forking out subsidies to both sides so they can charged more when the quarterly bill arrives. Wait till you see how much of our money was given to Qld and NSW to agree to a cap on Gas prices. More than 1K per household at a very rough calc. Will your bill reduce by that much as a result? Absolute demented economics.

If the WL had the choice of doing white guys in addition to Asian guys and making more money to purchase LV bags or Rolex watch then why not? It's still a human penis and not alien 👽.

Could I get a abstract of what you just wrote? A bit too long to read and no paragraphs.

Just a summary from everything after, "ow my head hurts..."

This was just one of many decisions that on the surface look absolutely moronic made by that flunky Frydenberg who also pushed for Aus to sign up to Net Zero BTW, when in reality it was a concerted effort to push up Housing prices and avoid a predicted slump.
It just highlights the problems in the Australian model of Democracy, no matter who you vote for a politician always wins.

FTR I am not advocating any other system, democracy comes in many flavours and works best when it sticks to basics and does not meddle in markets.

I have been planning a first brothel visit to either N5 or 42G. As an Anglo, would there be any issue? I don't have a problem with hanging with people of any race, but don't want to feel like an outsider or forcing myself in there.
