I am a strong RnT merchant with very rare FS visits.
For me, it is relaxation. These days you get both experiences so it doesn't really matter. Depends on what mood you're in and who's doing it.
I think you'll find that, in terms of costs, the goal post has shifted a lot more for FS than it did for RNT. It is the effects of inflation multiplied by the "baseline" of what FS used to cost vs what RNT used to cost.
I think the inflation level is the same percentage wise (about 20%?), but the dollar number is obviously larger for FS than RNT because the starting baseline are different.
For example, good quality FS in a quality shop used to cost around $250 - 300 /hr before all the inflation began to hit.
Now it costs around $330 - $350 (not sure what the max rate is now).
Going by price is usually a good bet on getting a good punt. At least *something* will be good about it.
