If you believe the legislation for gaming machines, they're supposed to have a minimum payout of 85% - 90%+, meaning the venue gets to pocket only up to 15% of the money put into them. Everyone's supposedly just winning money from each other. Hence the term "video poker", pokies.
You'd be a fool to believe that completely, though.
There are 2 major flaws:
1. The legislation is not policed. The government agencies lack the technical expertise to do so.
2. Whoever wrote the legislation forgot to include a timeframe for the payout. This means that a machine could be sitting there eating everyone's money for years and years with the promise that the ever-increasing 90% payout is "coming". Then the next thing you know, the venue replaces that machine with a new one. Tough luck to everyone...
I’m not a punter in the gambling sense. I supposed that was instilled by my father always losing?
Some of my friends are big gamblers and they lose but just don’t seem to care. All I think about is how much paid sex just went out the window.
