Quite a few well-known shops "closed" their doors.. but continued to work with a "reduced" roster from apartments with WL's that were willing to risk COVID, lockdown and police raids..

Every girl, shop and combination of the two would've been a different permutation. MLs would've been the hardest hit, I think, because most of them wouldn't have tried to brave the lockdown rules for a significantly lower reward than FS girls. My RNT mamasan contact did run rooms during the lockdowns, but she changed to a flat rate model and FS was included most of the time. Some girls had contact numbers of their regulars so probably made visits to their homes or apartments. Some shops had girls working out of apartments and not at their usual business venue. Others turned to OF and had guys pay to see them get topless or naked online. Those who didn't do any of the above decided to return to their country.

Another possibility is that some were probably living off their money from work for sometime. Let's not forget they weren't getting paid ordinary wages of $18-$25 per hour as in a restaurant. If girls especially WLs were making $1,000 or more per day (no tax paid) before the lockdowns then they were doing ok. When girls who go private are charging $400 or more per hour and see a few guys in one day, they're doing well in comparison to the ordinary Aussie worker out there.
