Yesterday I was between jobs, so sat down (in the CBD) and played with Wechat and had a look for anyone local.
Found a non-descript female with just a photo and sent a greeting (just "Hi").
checked again in a few minutes and got a friend request which ended up in just a basic friendly exchange, saying she was recently arrived and waiting for her qualifications checking for local registration.
I suggested if she wasn't doing anything in particular was she interested in meeting up say for a coffee or drink.She suggested a cafe, which was actually across the tram tracks from where I was sitting, so we agreed 5 minutes.
I watched the entry and say only one single female go in and sit down so went across and joined her.

Do you have a profile photo of yourself? It makes a big difference if you have a photo of yourself or not and increases the risk of getting caught as well.
When I created my account back in 2017, I did have a profile photo for the first few weeks only and received a very high response rate. I removed the profile pic shortly after as I didn't think it was worth the risk and replaced it with a pic of my local area at the time. I also use a WeChat account with a secondary number that isn't linked to any of my family or friends and I don't use my real name. Not sure if this is possible now since WeChat is more strict when creating accounts. Of course, the greeting response dropped significantly but the risks were significantly reduced.
I can't read/write in Chinese and my speaking is limited, so my pool of woman is smaller on WeChat. If they do respond, there is a good chance their english is OK.
Hint, you might have better luck if you greet the lady in both english and chinese, cover both grounds. Once you search for females nearby, clear the search so you don't appear on others nearby when you're not chatting anymore. Less chance of getting found out accidentally.

I can share some details....
You can take a profile photo of yourself blocking out majority of your face. Don't wear cloths that people you know generally see you in or can identify you LOL.
I do give my full photo on request, after I told the ladies that I'm married. I prefer to be upfront about my marriage status early otherwise they'll get very suspicious later on because you are never readily available for them. You've wasted so much time and you'll be in a awkward position. Its hard work to maintain an outright lie.
After telling my marriage status to the ladies, their response is quite predictable. They could be one of those that take a strict morale stand, then its best if you just move on quickly. Another common question is, 'does your wife know?' or 'what if your wife finds out?' etc.. I reply back mentioning since I'm married, I generally don't have many females friends anymore, it nice to have a female perspective and talk to the opposite sex for a change.. somewhere along those lines. If they accept and continue the conversion, that is one small step towards your goal
im so worried about this i get messages/greetings and add as friends. The pictures they use seem like its too good to be true.
