Sex education struggles to keep pace with online porn

In an age when "extremely violent and sadistic imagery is two clicks away" school sex education is struggling to keep pace, a study suggests.

Pornography can distort children's attitudes to sex said Deputy Children's Commissioner Sue Berelowitz.

Urgent action is needed to develop children's resilience to extremely graphic types of porn argues the study.

The government said its curriculum changes would teach children from the age of five to stay safe online.

The report, led by the University of Middlesex and commissioned by the Office of The Children's Commissioner, suggests some children are exposed to pornography while still at primary school, and the proportion increases with age with "a significant proportion of children and young people" viewing pornography.

Hmm, are they talking and concerned about porn only?
How about all the zombie, vampire, etc. movies/tv and games where you maim people with chainsaws, axes and shotguns?
Are they equally concerned about that?

Don't get me wrong, I'm opposed to all censorship - apart from trying to protect children and banning content that's purpose is to cause violence against an ethnic or religious group or people with different lifestyle.

I played Doom myself as a youngster, but I still haven't cut anyone into pieces.

And if by "violent and sadistic imagery" they mean S&M, then I saw some of that at a young age as well, but I still haven't tied anyone up to pour hot candle wax on them (as an example)

There are a multitude of other dangers online. And it's not limited to sex.
Whenever I read news about some nitwit who lost their money through some Nigerian letter, I wonder, do they learn even then? (yet again, just an example)

SHANGHAI - Calligraphy by Japanese porn star Sola Aoi has sparked a culture war in China, where she has a huge fan base, with purists dismissing the work as "unskilled" after it was reportedly auctioned for US$95,000 (S$119,500).

Eight Chinese characters the actress wrote with brush and ink at a theme park in the eastern city of Ningbo were sold earlier this month, the Liberation Daily newspaper said Wednesday, without identifying the auction house or buyer.

"The style of calligraphy is childish, unskilled," said the newspaper, which is backed by Shanghai's Communist Party branch.

He told The New Paper in Mandarin on Friday: "She looked as though she was trying to get away from two men, who were following behind her at about three car lengths away. She wasn't wearing any shoes."

She boarded his CityCab taxi, sat in the front passenger seat and asked him to make a U-turn.

"After I did so, she kept looking back to see if the two men were following her," said Mr Ang, a taxi driver of 14 years.
She didn't tell him her destination, but directed him to Amber Road - about 300m away - where she told him to stop. The ride took only about a minute and the fare was $5.40.


Apparently, the busty passenger is the one on the left, NOT the one on the right.

Local Porn Star Strips Down Outside of Pius X High School

Police say a local porn star stripped down near Pius X High School twice.



Her manager said he thinks the stunt will increase the value of his company, which he is trying to sell.

But, school administrators are not amused.

Porn star jailed for spreading syphilis

A male porn star has been sentenced to 30 days in jail after admitting responsibility for the syphilis outbreak that closed down the adult film industry in Los Angeles last August.

‘Mr Marcus’, 42, whose real name is Jesse Spencer, contracted the bacterial infection on set before altering his syphilis-positive test so he could continue performing.

The 19-year veteran pleaded no contest in Los Angeles Superior Court where he was also sentenced on Tuesday to 36 months’ probation and 15 days of community labour.

In August his admission came after the industry’s self-imposed 10 day moratorium which saw more than 1,000 performers in the LA area get tested and administered preventative antibiotics.

At least nine porn stars were revealed to have contracted syphilis.

Jill Meagher's killer Adrian Bayley had history of violent sex attacks; parole board failed to take him off the streets

The court was told Bayley later admitted to police he had killed her, blaming an argument he had with his girlfriend earlier in the night.

"I strangled her," he told police.

"You know it really wasn't my intention to hurt her. All I thought was, what have I done?"

Bayley returned to the scene at 4:22am, put Ms Meagher's body in the boot and drove to Gisborne South to bury her on the side of the road.

"I cried, man, and I dug a hole ... I didn't cry for me," Bayley told detectives.

"I'm going to jail for a long time... I hope they bring back the death penalty before I get sentenced. I have no life left.

"They should have the death penalty for people like me.

"How many chances does a person need? They should never have let me out."

Earlier this year, the Victorian Government admitted existing laws had failed and tougher measures were needed.

Online dating dupes people out of millions

A passionate online romance with an aid worker in Africa might sound appealing but it is one of many scams that cost Australians more than $93 million last year, with dating scams among the most lucrative.

More than 2440 jilted lovers reported a tryst
- with a worker supposedly from the United Nations, an engineer working in the Persian Gulf, or a serving US soldier -
that quickly escalated to a financial disaster, a report by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission shows.

More than 84,000 Australians who contacted the ACCC lost $93 million to scammers who wanted an advanced fee for a service, offered online shopping promotions, lottery tickets or were involved in computer hacking, the report showed.

The average age of victims was between 33 and 45.

Army knew of sex ring three years ago

The Australian Defence Force hierarchy knew an exploitative internet sex ring was operating within its ranks almost three years ago but did not involve police until the middle of last year, it emerged on Saturday.

Fairfax Media asked Defence when the Australian Defence Force Investigative Service (ADFIS) began its investigation of the matter.

An Army spokeswoman confirmed it first became aware of the unfolding scandal in September 2010.

NSW Police has stated that Kings Cross Local Area Command established Strike Force Civet in July last year - after being alerted in June.

The latest revelation exposes a period of 21 months during which ADFIS conducted an internal investigation before approaching NSW Police for help.

Sex and Violence: Double Standards for China’s News and Entertainment Industries



This year saw several clips of over-the-top violence go viral on various Chinese internet platforms.

These hyper-violent scenes were, surprise surprise, all featured in different anti-Japanese war drama films, or “抗日片” as they’re known in China.

After being criticized online, the clips of cartoonish violence (which would even give Quentin Tarantino a run for his money) were eventually denounced by state media.

A CCTV news report on April 10 was particularly critical of a scene where a Japanese soldier was sliced cleanly in half by a sword in one show and a scene from a different program where a woman was seen kung-fu-ing a group of 30+ Japanese soldiers to death as they attempted to rape her.

CCTV stated that these dumbed-down shows were making “entertainment out of suffering”.

Perhaps because they didn’t know how they could top a person getting sliced in half, the producers of a separate program opted to go the “sex sells” route, showing a naked woman on screen being saluted by a group of Red Army soldiers instead.

This was particularly surprising, as nudity and sex in general are things that you never see on Chinese television (One typical joke between young Chinese being that in one scene you’ll see a couple kissing, then the screen fades to black and the next thing you see is that the woman is pregnant).

Police allege tourist was sex slave before her brave escape

A EUROPEAN tourist was filmed on hidden cameras allegedly being abused during a seven-week ordeal as a sex slave in a Melbourne hotel room.

I was certain that I would never want a family of my own.

I wouldn’t have entered porn if I had. I scoffed at the idea of being tied down in any way.

But four years ago my brother was in a motorcycle accident, and I found myself thrust into the role of caregiver to my 4-year-old and 6-year-old nephews.

My youngest nephew clung to me half asleep as I carried him from my car to his bedroom, and as I tucked him in, everything changed.

I suddenly wanted a family of my own. That meant I needed to leave the adult business, but I wasn’t even slightly prepared.

Like most of my colleagues, I had never considered an exit strategy.

Worse, I felt I had no other skill sets.


A day in the life of a porn star might, on the surface, seem like the life of a Hollywood A-lister.

Shopping in Beverly Hills, getting $500 facials, and spending thousands on shoes that will rarely see the light of day.

But take one look at performer contracts and you will notice some major differences.

Hollywood actors have a union, health insurance, and even earn residuals on their projects.

Porn actors have none of these things. Once the money jar is drained on fashion, facials, and shoes, that’s it.

There’s no more. So retirement is a tricky concept.
