I think the line is when it starts to affect your life away from punting, e.g., less time with family, friends, ...
Just like gambling...not a good addiction to have. It’s very financially draining.
Someone once said it’s not an addiction if you can afford it.
Back to the topic. It is all about control. Replace the urge with sometime else. Keep your mind pre occupied with perhaps some chores, movies or even exercise.
I’m glad to say that I have been away from gambling or punting since December of last year. So anything.. so keep your mind strong.

I started punting 10 years ago when I was 35 years of age in Thailand. I use to go punting for 1 week only per year. The most I've done was 4 times in a week but that was in part due to having more free time than normal, the novelty of visiting a place for the 1st time, and having a bit of extra play money.
These days i try to only go once a month and normally with someone from my ever growing to-do list.

Some of those questions seem harsh but if can say yes to 4 of them or more, chances are you are in the grip of a punting problem or dare i say an addiction. i easily answered yes to more than 4 and i am not what you would call a 'heavy' punter.
