Dudes,
I am thinking of taking a 7-10 days holiday over the new year break. What's a good and cheap destination for a single guy to have some fun? Thailand is out of the question, as it is too obvious what I will be up to when I tell people where I'm going. I was thinking Phillipines, but not sure due to their recent natural disasters.
My main wants are:
1. Cheap
2. Punts
3. Not get scammed
Any ideas from experience?
Taiwan is beautiful. It's also cheap, tropical and an all around great tourist destination. If you're white, you'll be considered exotic and you'll have an easy time meeting people. Finally it's quite easy to find a punt there. Check out a place called hua lien. It's a natural hot spring area with heaps of hotels, many of which will help you find a punt if you rock up on your own.
No doubt...Pattaya in Thailand is THE place to go.
Actually, one more preference - I'd like to have a "girlfriend" for a week while there, instead of changing girls every time.
If you're ruling out Thailand, not sure why you think Phils is any better?? P4P is equally rife there, probably worse if you go to Angeles.
I'd honestly just go to Thailand ..... go to Phuket if the stamp in your passport really needs to be "legit", it's lame compared to BKK or Patts, but still enough to keep you occupied.
Otherwise I like the Taiwan suggestion. I've heard the same that it's piss-easy for white fellas, a bit like Japan was 20 years ago.

I just checked Taiwan prices on Expedia and prices seem a bit high...

To clarify, yes I mean mongering. Phils is every bit as "taboo" as Thailand in terms of sex tourism.
Another suggestion just hit me like a lightning bolt though ...... Jakarta. It's a fucking big city and the venues are apparently spread out, but it's supposed to be on the up as a destination.
Sex tourism without the stigma = winning. :-)

I can only comment on where I've been.
Mainland China - It is OK for punting but remember it's illegal but good times can be hard without the lingo. If you go in the new year it is CNY there and might be of interest. It will be cold if you go to Shanghai. In terms of getting a gf it might be a little difficult unless you go to a few bars but they tend to not be Chinese but Viet, Thai, Phil etc.
HK - Good for punting, a little expensive though for accommodation and food etc. Getting a gf is a little difficult but nightly in Wan Chai you can get some stunners but again, Viet, Thai, Phil and some Chinese. If you want a short time there are many mainland Chinese girls in Tsim Sha Tsui hotels in particular.
Macau - Good again, more expensive than HK but a higher level of experience with Darlings 1 & 2 etc. Legal.

My choice would be Thailand still. Much Cheaper, get gf's easier, break it up with a beach visit, scamming is a possibility but relatively safe.
Least likely place to get scammed would be HK and Macau. Cheapest place is Thailand.
