And going way back in 1982 a partnership between Alan Border and Jeff Thompson fell just a couple of runs short of winning an Ashes Test at the MCG.
Yeah, Ben Stokes at Headingly! 135 not out and scored all but 1 run from the 73 runs needed for victory ! That England no. 11 was Jack Leach who was 1* not out but see out 17 balls to protect his wicket so that Stokes could do the hitting ! Ben Stokes was the cricketer of the year that year after also leading England to the World Cup beating the Kiwis in that unbelievable final in a Super Over !

More batting collapses and we were only just wipeout the deficits and up 2 runs at the expense of our top six batsmen!

Can Green, Cummins and Starc be the heros in Day 4 and post a defendable total ? - a 140-150 for a day 5 pitch could be the making of fairy tales!!

    Go Aussie !

You got to give it to the Indians , looking almost certain that they will hang on for a draw with 5 wickets in hand and just a few overs to survive !

I can recall Australian has been in similar position many time to try to bat out day 5 for a draw but from memory never quite made it.

Considering with all the injury they have as well as without their Captain and best player, this draw is as good as a win !

So much patient, self control and perseverance shown by the visitors ! May be we could learn a few things from them !

So many maiden overs !! Where is Michael Clarke , somebody please take three wickets in one of these remaining overs . We wish !

The Indians are going to chase down the 328 to win the 4th Test and the series, this young and inexperienced 2nd and 3rd tier players are simply - brilliant !

    Good on them !

Wonder why the bookies always win ?
Was speaking to prominent owner of racehorse's ( who shall remain anonymous ) and
he told me racehorse in the recent Magic Millions Carnival failed because it was so juiced
up and suffered a accident mid race. Horse racing followers can figure which horse it was.

The favourite lost the jockey turning for home, she was behind a wall of horses though, not sure if she can win without the fall ?

After 28 days with no local transmission, Victoria is back to mandatory masks and battle stations mode, good luck to the Grand Hyatt, the players, the Australian Open, Melbourne, Victoria and all of Australia and so say all of us.

What a joke. Talk about buyer's remorse if your team lost.

Talk about buyer's remorse even if they won. Either way you'd just sat through four hours of a bum numbing stop start mess. With a lot more stop than start. I've got a feeling aerobic fitness isn't part of the players' training regime.

On a signal players all dart around at the same time. Then one of them throws the most blatant forward pass you'll ever see. Repeat this for four hours. The rare 'highlight' is when they don't touchdown a touchdown.

Man would I feel out of pocket.
Said “boring” event also draw so many eyeballs they are charging $6 million dollars for a 30 second TV ad.

Can anyone see the Tokyo Olympics actually happening in July-August?
That's only 4 months away and the world will be nowhere near covid free by then.
At best it might be a Tokyo-lite with many athletes and countries missing, and just a few fans.
It's a shame because the Japanese would have organised a brilliant Olympics and Japanese fans are freakin awesome!
Oh well at least we will be OK by the time the FIFA World Cup is on in November 2022.
Although bloody Qatar is a stupid place to have a Football World Cup - that was the worst and most corrupt decision ever.
Maybe they should give it to Japan instead to compensate them for missing the Olympics.

May be they should send a delegation to Australia to study how we did it with the two grand finals, the Australian Open and most recently the Mardi Gras at the SCG.

There’s still a few months to go, if they plan it properly, like getting the athletes and officials to Tokyo at least a month before, quarantine and tests them accordingly, restrict the social movements inside the villages. Limited the seatings in the stadiums - all spectators have to show a negative test results before entering , etc etc. they could have a Covid safe game , they are not going to make the billions in visitors but probably can keep the other billions from TV rights, advertising and sponsorship?

    The Game should go on?
