I find it strange that on that site, you cannot report an ad as fake.
Really? The business model of selling adverts to advertisers who put up ads (authentic or otherwise) is good.
Know of any popular sites that allow advertisers to be penalised for misleading the customer?
To be sure, they went out of business or figured out there was more money in not caring.
Plenty. The ones that abide by law. Plenty mate.
Here are the options on that website
"If this involves a threat to a child or an image of child exploitation, please email abuse@backpage.com the URL of the posting.
Please select a category.
Inappropriate or Illegal Content
Over Posted / Spam
Wrong Category"
When you give an opportunity to users to review said adverts, it increases the believability of the entire site.
The source of my surprise is not the point you made, but that, despite having a slightly better rep than cracker, I notice the complaint handling procedure is exactly the same as cracker, meaning its the same company or they both have similar levels of dodginess in terms of believability.
Yep thats why Whirlpool is pretty popular.
Alternatively you could write a review like this one I just noticed complete with (I assume) the original poster's advert title to make it indistinguishable from their real ones lol
