    Prostate surgery

I have recently been diagnosed with the big 'C'.

Needless to say it has hit me like a bolt of lightening out of the blue, have any brothers gone through something similar? I done the whole Dr Google thing and take everything with a grain of salt as far as post-op recovery. I appreciate that this is a sensitive topic so please PM me if anyone is willing to share personal experience as far as recovery time and what can be reasonably expected with regard to sex-life following the procedure.

    thanks.

I know of at least three guys who have had surgery with varying length in recovery time. It all depends on how much of the prostrate needs to be removed and the skill of the surgeon. Advice, don't go for the cheapest option.

Thanks for your messages and well wishes guys, much appreciated.

ATB i definitely won't be chasing the cheapest, not that money is falling out of my pockets but there is no point in trying to save a few $$ only to have complications down the track, particularly with something like health and medical procedures.

    sorry to hear that.

best thing i ever learnt was to do prostate massage in my late twenties. I was shocked to find my prostate was enlarged and after a few attempt it went back to normal. A lot of pressure builds up there

Mate I've been on a journey let me tell ya, sepsis twice from biopsy, damaged my heart had open heart surgery. This happened over 4 years after slightly high PSA, no big C found and I'm currently being monitored. Changed specialist and going to someone who is very professional and has options if required, hang in there it still could all turn out ok, I don't dwell just punt my head off.

Gents, thank you all for your messages.

Unfortunately, even with the second opinion from the Yoda of prostates in Sydney my only option is surgery and to have it removed, it's one of those things that my age (just in my 40's) works against having radiotherapy or similar.

    Fingers crossed all goes well.

FWIW guys start testing, its only a blood test and seeing what your PSA levels are, but remember that a high PSA reading does not of itself always mean you have the "C".

Had a high PSA for some time and an enlarged prostate to blame... MRI's show all is normal and does away with the invasive biopsy.. had trouble peeing so had a proceedure called Urolift last year, sorted things out for me, this all started at about 40 so yep, get yourselves checked! and best of luck with your proceedure hereandthere..
