    Google Translate

Can someone please help me translate this Chinese phrase. I don't think Google Translate is doing it correctly.

    破财免灾逢凶化吉。

The meaning behind it would be great too.

    Thanks for your help.

The religious philosophy that one shouldn’t take it too hard for a loss.

Loss of wealth (money), blockage of misfortune (disaster).

    Thank you @wilisno

    This makes sense.

Can this also mean the loss of a family member?

Haha ! For example, you were late to the airport and missed your flight, of course the ticket is not refundable. But later on you found out the plane has been hijacked....
