FMD! Tomorrow marks exactly 2 years since Shamrock started this thread.
This week saw this thread disappear off the first page in "General" and like a new Covid strain, its back here again. Dominic tried to hide the gloom and doom in yesterday's press conference by still trying to sell a Vaccine to a State that is one of the highest Vaccinated places in the World. He was optimistic that the numbers in ICU were dropping but he didn't explain that the reason for the reduction in numbers was probably due to the fact that an odd couple hundred of the infected had left ICU in body bags.

Sheesh you are stickler for details...

Dom solved the problem with testing...

Now he will solve the problem of hospitalisation by getting people to manage this through GP / home...

And if someone dies at home... Well they didn't get to ICU did they! Thst will solve our ICU crisis.

100% my reasoning aswell. We Punters are more capable of thinking outside of the box(pun...sorry). Poor Dominic has been plugging the same hole for way to long. I would be happy to shout him a 60 min Diamond session at N5M. I'm sure it would relax him heaps and more than likely he would start seeing the world through our eyes and then make positive changes to guide us out of this turmoil.

Hey Dom, if your reading this, the first one is on me, but then you're on your own buddy.

Had my Moderna booster yesterday and today I've got one of those low grade but annoying one or two day lasting headaches that to my despair viagra or any of the sex enhancement drugs also gives me.

The plan was always to open up once we hit 80%, even Queensland is staying open now.

One day the fear mongering will end. WA can be its own country at this rate… it’s already so fractured and sad.

Is it really fearmongering though? People made informed decisions and it seems like the majority just decided that the risk of catching covid and suffering its complications is too much. Wasn't WA's health service under stretch even without a significant number of covid cases like here in NSW?

    Hotspot Alert

Has anyone been contacted after visiting a brothel this year, and told to isolate?

The reason for asking is that I'm not sure how a personal covid-positive contact will be treated, after all, the visit will be less that 3 hours, and not a 'home type' environment.

We all get lots of messages on the Service NSW App telling us someone was positive at a location, but only to 'monitor for symptoms'.

Makes a difference if personally contacted, especially if having to explain to work why the need to isolate (wouldn't want to show something which clearly identifies the venue!).

What is it with China? Locking down, squashing the economy, trade being held up, making goods expensive. They are dictators, haven't they already dictated that everyone gets vaccinated? Every other country has vaccinated their way out of lockdowns. They are trying to dictate to the virus and it couldn't give a ***k. They are standing on a beach with their hands out trying to hold back the tide. It's insanity.

Have become friends with a girl who had a chain of education businesses in China that have all gone under because of the govts policies, she's lost everything basically, she's trying to remain positive about the whole thing but fuck that must be devastating, and that must be happening on a large scale over there.

It must be devastating for her to lose everything. I hope she hasn't turned to you for financial support.

No no, nothing like that, thankfully.
I mean, plenty have done it tough here as well, not for a second taking anything away from them, there are lots of hard luck stories from the past 2 years and I am acutely aware of how fortunate I have been through it all, really only complaining about cabin fever during lockdown and a couple of work trips to exotic locales cancelled, but that was the first real first hand account of what had been going on in China that I had heard (not just in regards to the closed businesses). I do think she will bounce back, she is a smart girl and is already working on how to leverage her knowledge from home to work for her here.

Let's hope that Pings cerebral aneurism can help not only China but the world (as well as Putin's cancer).

Why is it it's suddenly linked to the gay and bisexual community? If it's transmitted by way of sexual activity, it's the same issue for all orientations? https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw...850cca09a2dfe8

Ah that doesn't look good. Maybe should hold off punting for a bit or get a quick few in before it really spreads.

I'd assume the increased risk for gay and bisexual community is due to the same reasons as it is for HIV and other STIs: high levels for promiscuous sexual activity and anal sex tends to carry a higher risk of disease transmission. One of the wonderful things about vaginas its they're actually evolved to be somewhat resistant to STIs, not so much the anus however.

Dr Sutton noted there would be people in Australia born after 1980 who would not be vaccinated against smallpox, which would protect them from monkeypox.

Professor Raina MacIntyre, the head of the biosecurity program at the Kirby Institute and part of the WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on smallpox and monkeypox, said research showed waning immunity from smallpox vaccination might be contributing to the increasing outbreaks of monkeypox.

“It is more than 40-50 years since mass vaccination ceased,” she said.
