I rang yesterday and asked if could book tonight and the chap said no, ring back after lunch time tomorrow.
So I rang back a bit before 5 today as requested (just now) and was told 'no', ring back within an hour of the time you want (which was 7pm).

Given it is quite a drive to come visit and I need to do some planning - having the shop blow me off twice and refuse to take a booking outside of an hour ahead means I won't be making the hike.
They are just making it too hard to give them money.

Most likely concerned about folks who make booking and disappear. If they refuse a walk-in (who then walks out) because of a booking who then doesn't show up that is money out the door.
From a risk management perspective, making it hard to make a booking the shop transfers the risk onto the client.

That's bizarre, Boater (and don't get me wrong - I am not in any way doubting what you say). But I have been to No. 18 nearly 20 time over the last five months and in every single instance the booking system has been easy, straight-forward and flawless - one of the many reasons why I'm a big fan of this shop.

Having said that, I usually book in the morning for a midday or early afternoon session and I always talk to Lea (she whom I used to erroneously call Lily).

I think Lea will correct the approach of the bloke you talked to - I gave her some negative feedback on one girl I saw there and that girl got the boot (I wasn't the only one to provide such feedback).

Strange that the reception guy would ask the caller to call back the next day, won’t it be good enough if he just take the booking with a contact mobile then reconfirm again the next day say two hours before - which can be achieved with a simple text and a yes reply ?

The chap who answered the phone yesterday actually made sense, as he said he was not sure if Lousia would be there Friday, but they would know for definitely by midday. So it made sense to ring back after lunch Friday

The lady who answered the phone this afternoon was odd.

According to my phone I rang at 9939 5555 @ 4:44.
I spoke to an Asian lady
I asked if I could make a booking to see Louisa.
She asked what time?
I said 7.
She replied something like "I think it is better to make booking 1 hour"
I asked what she meant - think maybe it was "make booking for 1 hour"
She said to book after 6.
I replied words to the effect of "So you are telling me to ring back after 6 to make the booking for 7?"
"Yes, book just before you come"
I replied OK and hung up.
Phone says call lasted exactly 50 seconds.
I presume I talked to Lea.
