Apparently this is not as uncommon as you would think with a few hundred cases each year in that general part of the world as well as Africa. It’s also treatable as it is more a bacteria than virus. So would not be too alarmed.

I wonder whether many Asian WLs or MLs in Melbourne have moved to Sydney before the lockdown and closing of borders. I read about Chinese students making the last minute exodus from Melbourne to Sydney to fly back to China.

I don’t know why tell everyone close border.
So that is same as telling virus people to come to Sydney.
Then just don’t close, it’s the same.

Huge mistake by the Victorian government putting private security in charge
Subcontracting a policing role to a private company is a recipe for disaster.
NSW jails are also subcontracted to private companies. The company that got the contract is celebrating Christmas everyday😁 and as the the govt official who decides who gets the contract🤔

Is it true that horny Black African guardsmen in Victoria were planting their seeds in quarantined ladies?

The latest figures show that Victoria now had 3,560 cases, overtaking NSW as the most infectious State.

Those private security guards who had no proper security training were up to no good with the ladies in quarantine. What were these guys thinking when having sex with ladies who had been quarantined for the reason being that they may be infected with the virus. These same guys then returned to their homes and families and spread the virus further in the community. Those ladies quarantined in the hotels must have been desperate for some action. In the end who is to blame? The Victorian government for not getting the police or army to guard the hotels.

I agree. From the sounds of things it was one truckie from VIC who was patient zero that caused the spread in NSW.

Really difficult understanding the way which the New South Wales Premier is approaching this outbreak. A lot of what she has been saying is insensible, confused and to be blunt,
    foolish.

Let’s start with border closures. After criticising Queensland for so long, she then had to eat humble pie but she had to be dragged kicking and screaming into doing that and as we all know, she waited far too long. We are now paying for her stupidity.

Now we are facing the same situation with a lockdown. She has been very clear that we will not lock down for a whole range of reasons but if the management of this proves to be ineffectual, what do we all think will happen? Lockdown but again, too late.

It is quite interesting when you hear politicians making statements like we can’t afford to focus on eradication from an economic perspective. Actually, The question should be whether we can afford not to focus on eradication. Take the example of the crossroads hotel. The way this is being managed, what will happen is that crossroads will reopen and then there will be an incident and then have to close again undergo a deep cleansing, and then open again after that and then guess what happens? It will be a vicious circle that just repeats. Each closure and deep cleansing is enormously expensive for the business and ultimately, the business will just give up.

A complete lack of vision from a political leaders at the moment, focused only on the very short term. Ultimately, what will drive any kind of recovery is confidence and there is no way people can be confident in an environment where by they know that they can catch the virus at any time.

Yeah the government is too soft.
They announce things many days in advance and say "we are closing the border in 3 days time at midnight" WTF!
They did the same thing for the airports and for quarantine.
This basically encourages people (some of them with the virus) to make their move and creates a flood of people crossing borders or entering the country.
They should put all the preparations in place and then the same day say "midnight tonight border closes".
Yes this will inconvenience some people but that's just the way it is.
