I recently heard that Wechat & Tiktok could be banned in Australia in the not to distance future.
What are all you thoughts of this as i know alot of you guys out there use this app for getting girls roster from shops etc????

Western governments are so naive.
Some places use both Wechat and Line, so I guess they will just move over to Line.

If you look back in history you will see that China's become what it is because of Western influence (starting from the opium wars). Unfortunately China has now become an over sized beast that the west are no longer able to control but want to control. There's going to be lots of power struggle, tit for tat but in the scheme of things I think Chinese government couldn't care less if an app or two are banned.
I think it's a good thing to ban them.
You can't use facebook, messenger,google,ebay,Uber,twitter,instagram in China so why should we allow Chinese knock off companies to work here ?

I seriously doubt the Aus govt would ban Wechat here. It's how businesses communicate with Chinese businesses. How could they stop it if it's already in use?

Just a show as they will do it based on what makes Trump happy. Just as they blindly follow Trump to ban Huawei solely based on the claim it's a Chinese company subject to provide information to the Chinese govt when demanded to. As if other companies around the world doesn't do that when their country govt demands it.
When Tik Tok is becoming very popular, Trump comes out and accuse they are providing user details to the CCP. And threaten to ban it in the US.
Then of course, if it is sold to a US based company like Microsoft, then it’s all OK .

If it happened to any USA company, it's called price manipulation and the SEC will step in and sue the party who has manipulated / depressed the price of the company to force it into a fire-sale situation.
But since it's a private Chinese company that came up with cool new technology and has garnered more than 100million subscribers. It must be "evil" and needs to be curtailed at all costs. No Chinese company can ever come up with good technology and get away with it right. Talk about blatant global racism.

100% correct. Yes, people should have right for freedom and travel wherever they want to go during pedemics, they should have right for not wearing mask. Let us back uncle sam and keep following US for everything.
