Thailand or Japan
looking for suggestions and recommendations on where to go for a short holiday for some food, sights and fun (not necessary in that order) .
Thailand for fun.
Japan for sights, food tours.
Totally agree with b00bs, but Macau, is worth considering. Great food, especially in the Portuguese area, and i have never seen so many hookers, in one place in my life, from every nationality across the globe. The walk from one Casino to another (can some one refresh my memory, Wynn to somewhere) was an experiance to behold. I picked up a girl in a Casino, early 20’s, a hairdresser from Vietnam, working in Macau during the day, and nighttime activities when she had a day off. Doesn’t beat Thailand, but it’s worth considering. A major bonus, is people think you’re going there to gamble, and not on a sex tour which they think if you go to Thailand
Babycat is 100%.
Hana mi, or the tradition of viewing the cherry blossom flowers, is a beautiful time of the year to visit.
Cold enough to enjoy then onsen, but not snowing.
Lots of festivals around, and the food is sublime.
If you do go, I suggest Southern Kyushu. Kagoshima and Miyazaki.
Theres an awesome onsen near Mount Sakurajima. The seasonal food in these prefectures is so good.
Chicken Nanban, Judori Chicken, Chicken Sashimi, Kuro Kirishima Shochu on the rocks!!! Miyazaki Gyu is the best Wagyu in Japan.
Just my 2 cents.
@Charlie, is this Japan trip cheap ? lol
Let's not overrun another thread with poor banter. Poor on your behalf Lenka/Jeter.
Cmon.... bring it in big fella. Come have a cuddle.
OP, if you would like more info on Southern Kyushu, or Bangkok/Pattaya/Koh Chang or Koh Samet (beautiful islands in Thailand, I know some spots you can get pussy on Koh Chang).... just PM me mate. I dont want to clog your thread with the other bloke flinging monkey poo.
Would Koh Chang and some of those other nearby islands be a little weather beaten this time of year ?
I am not sure brother.
I have been to Koh Chang 6 times, and always around January February. Weather has been great.
Ohhhh..... but Koh Samet..... brothers, the resort on Ao Thapthim is not expensive, and just heavenly. The chef is a gun!! If you can hold your nose past Rayong, and just get on the boat...... maaaaan, Ao Thapthim is the best to relax. Not to party, but just eat, drink and enjoy the sun and surf.... so good.
You can pick up a girl for about 1200-1500 for a week in Pattaya. Take her with you!
Again, I am not sure of the weather patterns.
Koh = island
Chang = Elephant
Ao = beach or bay
Thapthim = Ruby.
Sakura is in April, but now in autumn the countryside is quite beautiful. Don't believe the hype that Japan is expensive. Like any place, it can be if you are not careful, but overall accommodation and food can be cheaper than in Sydney.
The fun part will be difficult, p4p usually expensive and restricted for foreigners. But very easy to get a non pro for some fun.
Cheap Charlie cant count, or has never been to Thailand I reckon.
For cheap holiday with the lots, you really can’t go pass Thailand !
It’s the best playground for man ! End of discussion!
Well... I didnt want to state the obvious by saying "go to Japan for the sushi and sashimi!"
Judori chicken eaten sashimi style is really good. It is native to Miyazaki. Its super clean. I have eaten it only in Japan. It is very sought after in this region.
Kuro Kirishima shochu is also from Miyazaki, and is the cleanest shochu to drink on the rocks.
But yes, the seafood is excellent.
In Japanese supermarkets, the fish section is as big as the meat section in the average Australian supermarket. And there is no fishy smell at all. When I lived there, I ate fish everyday. Miso soup and rice for breakfast everyday.
I cant comment on Hokkaido or Honshu. I have only lived on Kyushu.
The strangest thing I have eaten.... was in the forest of Trat, South Eastern Thailand.
Fresh chicken blood and rice.
Just those 2 things, for breakfast.
I couldn't say no, it would have been the utmost insult to the family I was staying with.
yeah the chicken sashimi seems abit risky.
When's a good time during the year to travel to thailand?
I thought that about fish sashimi, until I tried it.
There is also beef sashimi in Japan, for those who like their beef "rare".
Depends where you are going and what you want to do.
If you want to party compared to chillaxing.... you want to party when there is alot going on. But there is ALWAYS something to do in Bangkok or Pattaya.
Relaxing during the low season but still warm.
Trust me on the chicken sashimi.
I have eaten 100's of times, never been sick.
