The once upon a time in china series are great martial arts action flicks. Although I believe there was a porno of a similar title with that chick that really looked like a dude from the wwf
Since nobody is really talking about Japanese films, here's a few I stumbled across on a recent samurai film binge:
13 Assassins (2010)
The Hidden Blade (2004)
When the Last Sword is Drawn (2003)
They're fairly easy to get a hold of. Oh, and while you're at it, you might as well watch Letters From Iwo Jima (2006).
Battle Royale-, Japanese version of the Hunger Games-
Makes the hollywood version seem like the Sound of Music....
ps I love the sound of music !!
SBS TWO is having a Jackie Chan vs Jet Li segment on Fridays 9:30pm... apparently they show two movies back to back during this lunar new year period. Perhaps you would like to check that out? Tomorrow is Fearless, followed by Armour of God :P
Recently watched an Australian film called Careless Love directed by John Duigan. It tells the story of Lihn a Vietnamese Australian University student who secretly starts work as a part time escort to assist her family who are experiencing financial difficulties. For a time she manages her two lives in separate compartments, but when she falls for a fellow student her worlds collide and she must summon all her courage to deal with the fallout and emotional chaos that follows. I found it be very interesting even though it is fictional it gave me some insight into what it may be like for some of those young massage and working ladies that we see out there.
Cheers
Battle Royale looks interesting..
Hey Amos33,
I recently watched that movie as well.
The movie may have been fiction but I am certain that there are hundreds of working girls who have a similar if not the same story.
It sort of struck a chord with me too.
