Save/invest first and then once you take care of the basic expenses then you can use the leftover to punt.

You may think this is small pennies but there are people who are very organised who go around the streets especially on rubbish collection days raiding the yellow recycling bins and collecting all the bottles and cans.
They can easily collect 5,000 bottles and cans per week which is $500.
That's plenty of punting, especially if you go to the budget shops.
You catch more fruit flies with honey.
