I spent a lot of time with elite athletes, Olympic, commonwealth, world and Euro championships levels, trained elite footballers at 3 different clubs etc, but also spent a heap of time with paras in the lead up to Athens.
You will never meet a more dedicated, determined, hilarious and beautiful group of people in your life. The paras is everything the Olympics should be. Of all the work I did I cherish my paras work above all else. Just an amazing and inspirational group. Imagine being born with one arm, one lung, horrendous scoliosis etc and still running 10.8 for 100m and having a single digit handicap in golf. They are unbelievable athletes make no mistake. You haven't lived until you've been in a car with a one armed driver, driving manual while texting... I remember one night crying laughing while listening to the story of how a guy with one leg and his mate with one arm climbed on top of the Canadian teams roof and stole their Moose head mascot. There is no can't with these people. No "woe is me". They just do it, not for money or glory or fame, but for the sense of achievement only they can truly understand.
Sorry, love my para boys and girls...
