However, please take on board what I am about to say. I have had an active sex life since 15. For a time in my 20's I was having sex 2 to 4 times per day for weeks at a time. Yes, that caper has been mentioned in threads lately and I don’t need to elaborate. So basically for coming up to 50 years I never really had any erection issues that were greater than being stressed or blind drunk or both. Since my 50th birthday I have had basic annual check up's. Simple blood test in January or February. Cholesterol, Diabetes, PSA and Liver Function. Simple screening for sun spots and skin cancers also. No big deal. With the advent of Covid I was not checked in the January of 2021. When 2022 came around my PSA level had increased to 4.8 from 1.6 I was then scheduled to have another test in 6 months, but don't worry, it is relatively low reading. Next test is 6.4 so now we may have a problem. Sent to a urologist for further tests as now past GP's pay grade. If you can all remember mid 2022 we were out of lockdowns so I was out and about like many others enjoying the girls. I can remember the questions asked. Do you wake up with a morning wood 2 to 3 times a week. If yes, do you get out of bed to piss more than twice a night. If yes, do you feel that you cannot empty you bladder when you piss. Ok, but I still have an active sex life. Not such an important consideration but good for you. 4 more months of exploration and I am diagnosed with prostate cancer. Then we have decisions and options. I cannot out run it. At a good guess I probably have 5 years. With chemo or radiation I may have 10 to 15 but the back end might not be fun. Because of my family history and that it is early I can have it removed and probably have 20 good years. So out it goes and with it an active sex life. I am 12 months on and things are healing. I have said enough without going into what happens with the operation and recovery. I am considering penile injections or penis pumps or just continuing with prostrate massages.
The purpose of this saga is that if anything in your life is different than what it was 5 or 10 years ago then please seek professional advice. A good GP is handy but specialist advice is better. According to all I am very lucky that I took the trouble to have annual checks. I am cancer free at present so that is a good thing. I do miss what I could do quite well once but such is life.
As an aside, since Covid, and more likely Covid vaccines there has been an explosion in cancer related illnesses. I am not writing another essay here suffice to say that prostrate cancer is now no longer considered an old man's problem. Good luck with whatever anyone decides and stay well. 😎
