I've had ONE out of four new who asked for $200, and when I declined, she quickly dropped down to $150. Myself, I can decide for myself when I need protection. I just mark it as "It never hurts to ask". If she can get it from some, good for her. Keeps her working, hoping for similar, but my experience, girls are smart enough to know it won't happen with all. All the other punts, well, they were repeats, even if 9 months later, and no prices increases. Seems my demographic values repeat business.
Over the decades, I've experienced price increases in a number of climes.. My canary in the coal mine is when your regulars are always busy... THEN, it's time to re-evaluate your ceiling. Until then, I find a simple, polite "No thank you" can be very effective in generating a price reduction.
